My son was given a C2 fracture at birth and has been disabled his whole life. He's 19 now. I read this kind of stuff with great interest. He also doesn't talk and communicates with a mix of sign and a computer, like Stephen Hawking. A couple of weeks ago he told me that if he had to choose between walking and talking, he'd choose talking.

Life can throw us a curveball that’s for sure. Almost 20 years ago I met my wife to be and she had a son that was only 10 months old at the time, with no father in sight. A cute little bugger that was happy to have me around and played like all the rest of the children his age. By the time he was 3 we knew something was wrong and after what seemed like a lifetime he was diagnosed with severe autism “and” mental retardation. Now he is a 6’, 250lb young man with very little verbal skills, that will never leave home. Imagine being 20 years old and unable to accomplish most of the simple tasks we take for granted every day because you have the mentality of a young child. We should always be thankful for the faculties we have, there are so many others that are so less fortunate.
Tell Tater to never give in. Never stop trying. Never say “this hurts too bad, I can’t do this”. To push hard every day and to always put in more effort than he thinks he has to give. Never give up. I see the light in my sons eyes every day. He wants to do things and I’ve never, not ever seen him drop his shoulders in defeat. Never. He wants so bad to be like the rest of us. Hope he continues to improve, the main reason I bought an argo was because I too am in a wheelchair crippled from a snow mobile accident and I wanted something I could use in all seasons that didn't require any modes for me to operate.
