Best crimper for unshielded electrical connectors?

What are the best crimpers for non-shielded electrical connectors?

Like the type of connectors used in relay sockets and such.

I struggle with those type of connectors and have several to do. Is there a You tube video?

For a few extra bucks you can get a mini butane torch, a roll of solder
, some GOOD terminals and heat shrink. It will cost a little more, but avoid a ton of frustration when those connections start to corrode

From all the checking around I've done, it sounds like I need an open barrel crimper. Have to decide which one is best.
Looking at the Snap-on PWC48.

Something I have read a couple of times is that well crimped connections are actually better than soldered. I will still solder a lot of connections though.

Does anybody have a specific recommendation for a crimper for relay socket terminals?

I have a Tool Aid crimper kit and use the 18922 die set for those.

I solder those then crimp with small pliers, can't be in a hurry with those either way. All the tools I have tried with those over crimps.

I like that tool aid kit John shows, I might get that.

Looks like a good kit too. Jaw set C is the one you are looking for.

Takes just a few seconds to get-er-done. Put the connector into the crimper and close it just enough to hold it - strip a bit of insulation off - push into the connector so the insulation is fully in the tall bit there at the end - crimp. The ratchet won't let you under crimp and the die won't let you over crimp.

When I was an apprentice my journeyman had years of experience on stationary engines where vibration is a real problem with connectors. He taught me to just solder the very tip of the wire. Said if solder went to far down the wire it formed a stiff spot outside the strain relief that is crimped on the insulation. Wires would break where the solder stopped. I've seen a lot of comercial applications that now pinch weld the tip of the wire into the connectors. We still have to crimp and just a touch of solder will keep in place. I'm reusing some type of terminal on many occasions.

I'm working on buying a Snap-on but I would really like to have one today.
