    Hey peoples,

I have the option of buying this machine for $2000. It has a broken axle (and possibly some other unseen damage inside), but engine runs and good tires... and was told was working fine other than the broken axle.

I shouldn't have a problem fixing it, and threw out $2000 as a joke number to the ad. Called the guy and he was ok with it.

    -gas
    -6 foot bucket
    -35hp
    -2 year old tires..
    -known to be working

I've never seen a skid steer for anything under $5000 working or not, so... anyways, if it looks like I could fix it easily, do you think this is a good deal?

    Thanks for any help,

    Cheers,

    Beeman

Beeman. I have worked on a few bobcat skidsteers in my job, and they had chain drive for each side from two hydraulic motors, or used four hydraulic motors. If it only has a broken axle ,it should be an easy fix.By the look of the machine it should be worth the 2000. GreggV.

awesome.. thanks for the advice guys..

I'll go check it out afterwork and see the condition.. maybe even fire it up without driving it. I'll let you know what happens.

If the booms aren't cracked or bent and the hydraulics/pump are sound and not leaky, I'd say you're on to a great deal.
It's all just nuts and bolts.

Everything seemed to check out ok.. the axle was pretty beat up and needs to be replaced as well as some welding to be done on the inner side of the chain case where the inner axle bearing was supported (the metal was torn). I got eventually for $1600, but now I need to find parts.

And.. all in all in the end, if anything else.. I can throw the pump and motors into a 6x6 :P

            Thanks for the help guys!!

              Nice !

I think you got a great deal there Beeman, That thing is worth $1000 in scrap value alone here in the States! I have bought and sold several machines like that one, like you said minimum price out there is 5 grand for a pretty well worn out machine. I may be able to help you get parts, PM me with your needs when you get into it. Good Luck!
