  • A game of Diplomacy

So, I'm thinking of starting up a game of diplomacy, using the European map.

The game is played between 7 people, each taking a country on the map. Players will issue orders (moves) every half week before a certian deadline, and the map will be redrawn and posted the following day (this thread will be used to post the maps and the moves list).

I think it would be a neat thing to try out... anyone up for a first game? I need 6 players.

For more info - check out the link at: <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diplomacy_(game)" target="_blank">http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diplomacy_(game)</a>

We can work out the details once we have all the players.

This isn't a get together game where we need to sit down, it can be played over emails and PM's... once you see where your factories and game pieces are on the beginning map, (example of a winning move is you move two battle pieces to one zone where the other player has only moved one into that zone), you start planning your alliances, deceptions, and moves. We can even change the game pieces to look like little 6x6's :P

I'm sure Mike will be cool with this.

Not quite like Risk. There are no rolls of the dice so there is no "random" chance in that sense..much more like chess for the strategies. The chance comes from negotiation... ie, if you make an alliance with someone else not to fight you, they can still fight you if they feel like it. You want to conquer territories, the move of those you own, the more factories you can have, and the move factories means more armies/ships.

Hmm, I guess I'll get kicked since I've never even heard of it before, let alone played, but ok Beeman, get 5 more and I'm in.
