      I personally hate rhinos
IMO polaris makes the best SxSs
arctic cat prowlers aren't bad at all, won a couple shootouts in magazines. the kawasaki teryx isn't bad either, same with the big red. I put rangers first, then prowler/teryx/big red, then rhino.
A good friend of mine has a ranger 6x6. it's an awesome machine, we've only gotten it stuck a couple times and nothing the winch couldnt handle. by the way, we were in a recently drained pond.

It all depends on what you intend to do with the vehicle. Some amphibs are more geared for sport, some for utilitly some for swimming, UTVs/SXS are the same. Polaris's ranger, Honda's big red, John Deere's gator would be good for utility. Polaris RZR all for play and speed. Yamaha rhino fits inbetween the ranger and rzr. Arctic cat's prowler is cheaply built and I dont know much about the Kawasaki's teryx

The Terex is similar to the Rhino. My dad has a Big Red, its a pretty good machine but there was some airbox issue with the 09 models. You could get a good, un-biased opinion from QUAD Magazine. (Transworld Quad - ATV Pros, videos, photos, ATV events and products) They do plenty of shootouts and tests. I have subscribed to this magazine since they started publication in 06. They can give you a good idea of what is best for you needs and situation.

+1 to QUAD magazine. I think that's where I got the info for that shootout of prowler-->ranger-->rhino. it might have been dirt wheels though. the ranger XP is a great all around machine

I know the john deere gator XUV is a beast from experience my frien has one and it can really chug through mud and do just about anything it has pulled out a couple of stuck trucks but one draw back is there are not a many aftermarket parts for these as in some of your other listings and i dont think they have a 6x6 xuv gator
8x8 twice as good as 4x4

polaris makes the only 6x6 SxS
I've seen the xuv but never seen one run, dont really have any experience so I can't comment. all I can say is that you wont be doing much aftermarket upgrades to it. though if you include the xuv, you have to include the kubota which has a diesel version=pretty cool, but slow

gator has a turbo diesel but whut makes it so good is stabilatracs or full lockers front and rear plus 4 wheel independent suspension
                  2wd high
                  2wd low
                  4wd low
                  4wd high
                  4wd high lockers
                  4wd low lockers beast mode!!!!

Have any of you guys heard one of these diesel machines in the mountains? these things sound like semi trucks moving about. I was on stand one time hunting white tail and heard what i thought was a large truck coming up the road.turned out to be a Kawasaki mule diesel.

                      6x6 Ranger

Well, I did look @ these before buying my Argo bigfoot, but after realizing that none of the "side by sides" except for the Argo would float, I never gave them another thought.

I beloong to a volunterr fire dept. in NJ & 3 seperate depts in my town all purchased different types of what they call Remote access atv`s LOL , the 1st dept, bought a John Dere Gator 6x4 & that gets stuck in the muddy farm fields & river silt where they attemp to operate, dept # 2 bought a polaris 6x6 ranger, w/a slide in/out fire pump/hose to as they quote fight brush fires between the canal/river (swamp) lands & to handle the many water rescue calls they get everytime the roads flood, well, so far this unit hasnt seen ANY off road time because the dept. chief wont allow it off road & it cost the taxpayers a whopping $40 K to boot.
dept # 3 bought a quad who knows why ?

So you do the math, & guaranteed the Argo wins !

But, I did finally convince the fire academy to purchase a brand new Argo 8x8 750 EFI which they took delivery of 3 months ago.

                      Hope this helps you /

                      Good luck,

                      Tom

I did alot of research on all the sidexsides and for used it ended up the ranger 6x6 was the best bang for the buck for what you get out of it, and new the best bang for the buck was the polaris ranger crew, i currently have a '98 gator 6x4 20hp Kawasaki, best machine ever hands down
'99 Conquest 104hp turbocharged intercooled EFI Chevy Sprint conversion
"Argo 8x8's only" type of guy

IMO the best all around SxS(besides an amphib) is the ranger XP. the 6x6 is great for more serious work or mud and the RZR is great for sport use. the ranger crew isnt the best offroad machine around but good for worksites and light off road stuff

I have owned a Max, a Kubota, a Argo 6x6, Two Ranger Side by side 6X6,a wolverine and a Gator. The floaters don't cross streams very well, don't cross rivers at all. Intake on Kubota and Gator were wayyyyyy too low, Can't haul enough fuel or parts for a Wolverine, Unless they come out with something better I'll never own anything except a Polaris Ranger two up 6X6 ever again.

don't underestimate the power of drained ponds getting a ranger 6x6 stuck but nothing would have gotten through that
