  • Hare Scramble racing

There is a sport that reminds me of the old AATV racing from yesteryear and it is call Hear Scramble racing. One of our members is involved with this so i thought i would check on the net to see what was out there on this sport.

I know that these trails are for 2 wheel dirt bikes but some are 4-wheelers. I have heard some rumblings about a possible track adjustment for the AATV crowd. These tracks are around 7 miles long and seem to be pretty tough on man and machine.

Once i heard of it i was very interested about it since i had a ball at Ashtabula and am looking for more of this type of racing. We have a few go-cart tracks that are nearby and as more machines(racers) pop up i am going to try to get us a exhibition run on it. A friend of mine is affiliated with it and seems interested. Great way to get our machines out there in the public eye again.

Back to the Hare Scramble racing, just wondering how many track are out there? Knowing that these tracks will probably not make adjustments for our machines, but is something to think about. We have members all over the country and in my opinion this would be a blast.

I have found a few links to this and just thought you may be interested. I know they are 2 wheelers Hiss-Hiss, but if they can do it our machines can also:

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways , cigar in one hand, whiskey in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!!!"

I used to have an employee that was a sponsored that did that. The guy I bought my rims off has a track close to me and I asked him about if he thought a 6x6 could do it, he didnt think they would fit on the course of that we would wont to do that kind of damage to our machines, but I like the idea of trying it.

Here is a link to that track I was talking about in New Lexington Ohio, SE of Columbus.
    Blank

I know it says blank says the same thing in my bookmarks but it works.

Those were fun to watch, Lewis. As I was watching the 2nd video, I'm thinking to myself how heads up you have to be in the woods. I no sooner was thinking that & the rider with the helmet cam clips a tree & goes down.

You know that Bud has Hare Scrambles at Pine Lake. Would require a lot of places that were wider for even conventional 6 wheelers (don't know if anyone would be willing to cut down so many trees) & an alternate place to pass unless you could blaze your own, if possible. If you get behind a traffic jam & these things are timed, boy, you can lose time.

But still it would be fun. I think we should nominate Don to donate his backyard, so a track like this can be tested.

All good points, i am thinking that this would add more diversity to this sport with our machines. I am thinking with the roll cages and harnesses our machines will actually be safer. We will not be able to go as fast but will have the same amount of fun. A test of man/women and machine. Some of these courses have quiet a bit of open ground. I think i became addicted once i ran as Ash and want to do more. My time is limited as since i am in the over 50 bracket to how much longer i will be able to play. Not saying that 55 is old at all!!!!! I just don't see me racing in the 65-75 bracket!
Yet there is a possibility (Senior Citizens class)

I do. The rest of us seniors will need the competition.

OK but how will we explain this to the AARP?

We just start a new organization ATVARP. Guaranteed to Keep you young! (at least do stupid stuff* and have as much fun as a teen).

We can modify the scramble to an enduro where there is a sequential start and run against a clock.
