  • Need a Torch

    Title pretty much says it all, I'm tired of borrowing the neighbors torch. Does anybody have a favorite brand/model? Not looking to spend a forture, but I know you get what you pay for. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

      as long as you have access to the neighbors, time is on your side. Keep an eye on craigslist in your area. you can find a lot of good quality tools on there pretty cheap. with something like torches, you might want to replace the hoses if you buy used. you never know how they were treated and a leaking hose can be disastrous!

        here in my garage, I use a cheap ebay plasma cutter (I have a 5 years old chinese made TIG/plasma/stick inverter welder)

        or when I need heat, I use a carbon arc torch on my welder : Using the torch

          That carbon torch looks pretty neat. Simple and cheap to make, I think I'll go that route. I like making frankenstein stuff like that. Thanks for the info.

            that way I don't have to pay for acethylene that I use twice a year... it's pure 1940s technology

              Harbor freight has a nice cheap small setup that you can carry with one arm. Works great for those twice-a-year applications. Tanks are only about 16 inches tall.
              It's all just nuts and bolts.

                jest buy u a oxy act tourch u will be munch happer in the long run . and yes i use one every day all day , robbie

                  Im a welder by trade and I got to say I love Smith torches. No wrenches needed to change tips or switch from the cutting head to a welding/brazing tip
