  • I hope i didnt come off creepy or crazy

So while driving down a back road on my way to my first stop for work today, i spotted a max ii with the windshield option sitting outside a house. No cars were around so i didn't stop, but was driving very slowly while i put the spot in my gps to check back later. As soon as i looked up from my gps, i saw a max iv at a different house on the other side of the road. This house had a car in the driveway, and how often do you see 2 amphibs on your way to work.

So i pulled in the driveway to stop and introduce myself. I knocked on the door and a woman said hello from behind it. I felt kind of silly, but i explained to her that i saw both max's and wanted to find out if either person was a member of 6x6 world. The door opened and i nice young lady said it was her husbands and he wasnt home, but he recently joined the site. She said that they recently aquired the max iv and it was "way better than a four wheeler." Since whoever it is that owns the machine is already a member and i would not be able to spread the addiction to the site, i decided i would try and lobby her to come to ashtabula for the races.

Whoever's wife i spoke with today, i encourage you and your friend to come up for the races, and hope i did not freak your wife out today. Sorry if i did though.

I thought it was strange when my wife told me about it but, since your a local its ok. I am the max 4 owner. My friend and I acquired the max 2 when I convinced him that these where the coolest toys we could afford. Currently repairing the 4 right now but not enough time. tranny is finally out and need to repair mounting holes. Feel free to stop again sometime, I'm usually home evenings and weekends.

      that is so cool LOL
He who has not cruised the back country in a 6x6 , has not lived life to it's fullest
A Mans level of mechanical education directly corresponds to the level pain suffered while getting it

        Pennsyltuckey Redneck,

I see that was your first post, Welcome to the site.

The more I think about my thread title, the more I think it should be "I hope I wasn't Creepy." I think we're all crazy. We drive machines that float and cost a small fortune to replace the tires on. But thats ok, we all have the same problem here.

North West PA seems to be rich in Amphibs. I know of another member with a max iv that lives close to me, and there are a few amphibs in the area that I have seen, but not seen anyone home to go talk to yet. Recreative Industries, the manufacturer of your machine, is just a few hours away in Buffalo and is a great place to source certain parts. We have the races at Pine Lakes in Ashtabula that are very close to us too. I really do encourage any member that is nearby to come check it out, with or without your machine. Its a good time!!!

If you need any help with your machine, I should have some extra time once the racer is done to come lend a hand. Owning a more unique machine means there are few people around that have or can obtain the knowledge to work on them, even though they are really simple. I do look forward to stopping by again so I can take a closer look at you and your buddies toys. Your Max IV looked nice from where I saw it, I'm surprised you have anything to tinker with on it. If you run into trouble or have questions getting her going, start a thread and we wil try to get you in the right direction. Jersey Bigfoot, Don, Racerone3, Hydromike, and a few others helped me get my machine on the trails down at Busco Beach in NC a few weeks ago. The on this site are great, and you've found the best asset to the amphibious community.
