    Corporate Pilot

Like most here, I've been obsessed with machines at an early age. I started flying at 17 and it took off from there (Oh my what a bad pun!). I do not have a background in anything mechanical so most of this stuff has been learn as you go. I've been lucky enough to live fairly close to Don so if I mess stuff up I have a safety net!

I'm also a career pilot but I enjoy working on machines and being active when I'm not flying. I've been interested in aatvs since I was a little kid and saw an add for a max II in the back of a magazine! Although I don't post very often I sure enjoy this site!

I'm currently employed as an avionics technician working on air medical helicopters. I finished aviation school in the early 90's and went to work in commnuications working on 2-way radios, television and microwave transmitters. I finally landed this job in aviation about 6 years ago.
I tell everyone I'm a mechanic by birth, but my career is electronics.

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways , cigar in one hand, whiskey in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!!!"

                  Line of work?

Just curious what kind of work 6x6 folks do...I ask b/c I learned quick how costly these machines seem to be. Also noticed a lot of members have nice shop setups and more than one machine...just a thought if you don't mind sharing. I work in the operations center for the state highway in Mass...

Here is an older thread on the same subject. Most of the people on here that you see with multiple/ many/ (too many) machines, are the DIY type who can have several machines for what a single machine would cost if you were to pay someone to upkeep it. A lot of us are mechanics for a living in one formor another, but there are also doctors on here who like to get their hands dirty (or broken) as a means to relax http://www.6x6world.com/forums/chit-...o-day-day.html

Reading over the thread I linked, a lot has changed. I am the shop foreman for a NASCAR team and run all day to day operations. After the economic tank in 2010 I refinanced the house and bought a bunch of tools with the equity. There is not much I can't build from my shop at home now, but I still tend to do a lot of it on work equipment on my lunch hours

Well Snackmaster, GeoJem and I are Geologists by trade so there's an awful lot of profession-hobby overlap in our world.
