  • Family Kayak Trip

Well, this started out as a Moose scouting trip that I was going to make solo, but by the time I was ready to go it turned into a family Kayak trip. From our cabin to the creek and up the creek to the first dam is about 2.5km, so 5km round trip with the youngest paddler being 6yrs old (Youngest rode with me)

My Kayak is 13ft, the Blue one is 10ft, the orange one is 8ft, and my wifes "Sit-In" is 12ft (I think). Personally I like the 10ft Blue one the best.

Anywho, just a trip to the creek with the family and the dogs. Dogs followed from shore most of the time, but came out to walk with us in the shallow parts.

nice. definitely beats the idiot tube for entertainment. i just got my oldest, 5, into fishing this summer so maybe there's hope. my daughters have a love/ indifference relationship with the argo. i got it so all 4 of us could ride the trails up in maine. my wife is not a big fan, too bumpy. my kids are little and don't like to go to fast, that should get better as they get bigger. i think they would be more enthused if mom was. the benefit of the argo for me is it does allow me to get out of the house, refuge from the tea parties and such.

Thanks RD, great family video....those girls are growing fast. I really enjoy your videos.
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways , cigar in one hand, whiskey in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!!!"

Just a bit more patience Trevor, it will get better when they are old enough to take a hand at driving. My youngest (4yrs) does not drive yet, and so is not as enthusiastic as the older 2. My oldest is "Hard Core ARGO", but my middle daughter is all about the Quading and SPEED. My wife couldn't care less about the Argo, as long as it packs a load for us. She's also a quader. It's all good, as long as you can get everyone outdoors with you, YOU can adapt a bit and make anything outdoors fun with the family. My wife loves it when I leave her at the cabin and take the girls out with me. Doesn't matter what we do, explore, practice fire making or shelter building, hunting, fishing, walking, Argoing. Keep 'em Warm, Dry, and Fed, and they will follow you around like Puppies

Hey Lewis, they do grow fast, don't they? Sometimes I get home from a week at work and just have to do a double take. They change in so short a time, sometimes I wonder how much I'm missing while away. Have to spend as much time as I can with them, they will be grown up to soon. Glad you enjoy the vids, and I apreciate yout comments

Hey PH, how have you been? The kids did have a good time on that trip. You wouldn't have believed our timing on that one. We, litterally, got back to the cabin about 90 seconds before a torential downpoor. The kids ran to the door, Diane and I never even got the kayaks pulled up when the blast of wind hit us and the rain started. The lake turned upside down instantly. Only lasted about 20 minutes, but would have been bad if we got caught out in that.
