I was starting a family and sold the 400ex. Bought and redone a VW Dune Buggy and it was fun for the family and I. Then I discovered aatv's. They sounded cool and the fact they are amphibious was really cool. I figured it be another cool family thing. I didnt have the cash so I traded the Dune buggy for an Attex 225/hustler. Never turned into a complete family thing but still cool. Unless you ask the wife, lol.
Bought mine for a couple reasons. 1. I love OLD toys that are strange and no longer made. usually dont see many of them..unless its an attex, then a majority of ppl on here have a couple! LOL :-P which is AWESOME cuz that means i dont usually gotta wing it when it comes to problems! 2. It was cheap enough, and everyone said to get it so i did! lol i'm influenced easily..plus the old lady said i better wait and think about it, so i just HAD to rush and buy it after that. ANARCHY!!! lol
The attex fits in good with my old stuff!! Same age and era as my Rupp Roadster2, and my newly aquired Struck Mini Dozer. The 70's was apparently and awesome time! wish i coulda experienced it man..woulda been totally grooooovy!
I have officially caught the 6-wheel-sickness!!

Wicked answer Wagzz,I got started when my father bought our first machine in 65 a Jigger and it never stopped to this day, father passed away deer hunt 08, his last machine a Bigfoot which he thought was the greatest machine ever Mossy Oak in colour, all I can hope for is to be riding theses things to the grave also.N.C.T
Got an AATV because I can take my whole family wherever we want in all seasons. The max IV is almost left unused during summer but it is our winter fun machine that can go over mountains and lake even when there are no trails.
When I was young most all sat morn cartoons were animated, few had real people/props. Then came this show called The Banana Splits. After my orbit decayed and I splashed down back on earth,I explained to my parents the urgency of having one of those.About 40 years later got my Argo, then the Hustler, then the Attex.........
Mainly got mine for the deep snow .Dad and I wanted to get out in the dead of winter to traverse the 9000 acres .Now I am hooked for year round play. My only regret is that Dad passed away Nov.1st this year, just after completing the Max IV . We were able to sit side by side on a weekend long ride and talk with one another.Something you cannot do on a four wheeler. So among all the obvious reasons for owning one ,...this machine will always be in the family.
I have 3 boys...So it was buy extra 4 wheelers for each or go the argo route....I bought an 8 wheel conquest first and after a short while decided to buy a 6 wheel argo...Now the whole family can go camping where no one else goes.....I also have my 4 wheeler for when I want to go by myself and splash around...lol
Even if you’re on the right track, you’ll get run over if you just sit there.

I had no past experience with them, but was looking for an emergency escape vehicle during spring floods. Boats don't work because the roads go under in multiple places. Amphibious vehicles seem like the way to go. I couldn't decide if a 6x6 or a hovercraft would be better, so I bought both. :-) Thats my excuse for buying it, although it is used for recreational purposes and may never be used for emergencies (I certainly hope not). As with most of my hobbies, once I get in, I tend to keep sinking deeper. I have already found a few other 6x6 projects nearby that are tempting me.
I have always personally loved any sort of aatv/snowmobile/other off road recreational vehicle, and have snowmobiled since I was very young, but have only owned snowmobiles. I got my start with aatv's this year when I was given my grandfathers ST/300/D; a machine he has had since '72 or so I believe. He used to take my mother and her sister for rides in it when they were young, like I did with him when I was very young. He hasn't been using it much the past couple of years and, knowing how much I liked it and wanted it, passed it on to me. This is now the first 6x6 I have every owned and can't wait to do a complete restoration on it to bring it back to life!
Anyways, that's my $.02...

Bought my Argo to use at our fishing cabin in Canada, we have to carry everything including the outboard 5 miles back to the lakes on the Island. My dad is 66 and loves to fish and can no longer make the hike. I always wanted an Argo picked one up its a blast and it is unstopable.
