  • Video of a hawk attacking my chickens.

Crazy 5 video camera footage of the action. I think it turned out pretty well. This is what my security cameras picked up. I have 5 cameras mounted on the house and 3 cameras I have been playing around with getting deer and such in the back yard. But I didnt think I would get a hawk. I picked it up on three cameras on the house and on 2 of my play cameras. Also camera 2 tipped over which is one of the high resolution channels in my dvr. If it didnt tip over I wouldnt of had footage of it landing in the tree. But I would have had better fighting footage. Oh well. Turned out pretty cool though. I wish my yard was cleaner, lol. Yes the chicken lived, so I might get another video. I know I need better hawk bait. Maybe something the family isnt attached to.

I have seen the hens attacking a raven in my backyard and it was ugly (for the raven) but video taping a hawk is really something....

That second chicken wasn't chicken......looked like he or she wanted in on this fight.

      Glad all survived!

      Thanks for posting it!
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways , cigar in one hand, whiskey in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!!!"

That was cool, Larry Dubba You.

The second chicken looked like it was coming to the rescue of the other chicken. That one was not a Chicken chicken. Like what Lewis said, but beat me to it. Great minds.....

Ol' Foghorn Leghorn was definitely pissed that the hawk was after one of his ladies!

Lewis, Bridget, Bud, Yea it did look like he might have done something if the hawk did succeed.

I think the video turned out cool with the different shots. I wish they were all the higher resolution though.

One day my wife got home and there was a red tailed hawk sitting at the front door eating a chicken. She scared it away. The chicken was bigger then the hawk. The chicken didnt die then but did die the next day of a major gouge to the throat. We have had other encounters too. Seems if we find a body or it turns up missing in the daytime, its a hawk. If the body is gone and came up missing at night its a coon. If there was a night attack and the head is missing, a possum. In the spring I plan on doing something different with the chickens. An inclosed fence and maybe some other sort of coop.
