Go for it! I love Great Danes......they're very social dogs and I'm sure if they're like most dogs, they love helping work on 6 wheelers. My dog would always be there to help with repairs. He'd probably even help bring me tools, but unfortunately couldn't since dogs lack an opposable thumb.

Awesome dogs, but flippin big! their also prone to ankle issues aint they? or leg or something like that, cuz their so damn big. dont get me wrong, i love pretty much all dogs and i'd never try to steer anyone away from them at all in any manor. was just thinking aloud so others can chime in?

Don't take this the wrong way, I also like them, but they are not for me. They eat big, poop big, and are just overall BIG dogs. It's hard to take them anywhere, and people who don't know them are afraid of them. They can not run far or fast, so you have to haul them to take them with you. They should not be run or worked much at all for the first 4yrs of their lives, as they are still growing. Hip Displasia can be an issue. How long will you enjoy manually lifting a 200lb+ dog in and out of your truck? It's a commitment that will last many years, and as cool as they are, I don't think I could do it. My dogs HAVE to be able to keep up, I'm away from home more often than I'm at home, I have to be able to take them with me.
My buddy had one when we were kids. Wicked COOL dog, but ...............
