  • So I went to the eye doctor today..

So I went to the eye doctor today to get my eyes checked. Told me I needed bi-focal lenses. I feel I am too young at 45 to need bi-focals. Now I feel old as dirt. And my parents poked fun at me. Mom even offered to rent me dad's walker. Today just plain sucks now..

They need to invent bi-focal contacts.. somehow trigger between the two different focuses by a series of eye movements or winking.. or both..

That could have been worse, you could have gotten "see........I told you that you would go blind if you kept doing that.... "

i go tomorrow to the eye doctor...i been having issues with my left eye for quite some time...when i wake up its fine, but as the day goes on it gets blurrier....sometimes it hurts. Last eye doctor i went to said that i had 20/20 and he didnt see anything in it, and he also did a bunch of tests for glaucoma n stuff but EVERYTHING looked normal. I been gettin alot of headaches on the left side of my head as well, so hopefully he finds something tomorrow when i go in...

I, on the other hand got good news from my eye doctor today. Being a diabetic on insulin for the pass 7 years the doc said that my eyes looked excellent and that he would not have known that I was a diabetic if I did not tell him.......

On the other hand I still need reading glasses....

well, i got bad news from my visit today...turns out...the last eye doctor i went to missed the problem, but this one found it.. I had 3 professionals come in and look at my left eye, and all 3 said wow...

Turns out, there's something embeded into my cornea? They said that its in THE WORST place possible. on a percentage scale they said its a full blow 100% bad area. lol LOVELY!! It is Smack dab, directly in the center of my field of vision. Eye doctor said if i had been shooting for a bullseye, i would have won the gold trophy.. THey put me on Rx eye drops to reduce swelling so they can see just how big it is. They also stated that none of them wanted to touch it, i'd have to goto a cornea specialist cuz its in a terrible spot. Somone without experience of working with this particular area could screw up vision very badly. Oddly enough, the pro's i seen today all had over 25 years experience, are the best in our area, and none of them had seen someone before with something embedded in this area...

So....with that in mind, I'm bummed. lol Just Flippin lovely....so now what?! hpefully it dont get screwed up when they try to remove it...or they said ill end up with permanent scar tissue over it..which means i have permanent eye blur. Sometimes a guy just cant get ahead i guess!? lol damnit! i always wear safety glasses, and all that other fancy jazz that one should wear when doing anything that could even remotely be dangerous...oh well, thats the cards we're dealt. I'm sure ill be fine, but figured id reply with what i found out today.

Good luck at the eye doctor and hope all works out well.

I have worn glasses since i was the age of 10. Went through all the jokes.....4eyes, etc. But they have protected my eyes many times from damage. I guess it works out in the end all the people that made jokes about people that wear glasses never thought they would get old and need them also. So there is a little justice in the world.

Mustangwags, Im pretty sure that you'll be fine,, I found that a lot of doctors shy away from challenges for fear of lawsuit. If they can do lasic surgery to correct vision, they sure as well can remove something imbedded, and I've seen some pretty bad stuff in my short time, some alot worse. You'll be fine for sure!! I rub my eyes sometimes in the garage after using the grinder and what not, with the bottom of my shirt, or with my forearm. The "ol man" tells me that is a bad habit, but I still do it. Some habits are hard to break. Anyway,,, I hope all goes well with you future visits!!

Dang that sucks, Wagz! But have hope, these days full corneal transplants are common. A good specialist should be able to fix you right up. Keep in mind that just because the guys you saw today wouldn't do the surgery, there may be nothing more to it than the fact that it just wasn't there specialty, and they were willing to say no. Would you rather have seen some arrogant moron who said he could, only to learn too late he couldn't?

Thanks guys, yah makes me nervous but i'm sure it'll all pan out. dood...cornea transplants?! lol thats wild, never woulda thought! haha. I do always wear "PPE" I'd rather look odd temporarily than permanently! Ive seen to many things go wrong with tools and basic tasks that'll disfigure ppl forever. And yes i am glad that they found it this tiem around, and had the balls to say "no thanks, you need someone else" rather than say "hell yah i can fix that.....oopps...guess not" then i'd be up crap creek withouta paddle. lol If i couldnt cache i'd be upset. we have a blast caching. Going to Richmond Virginia in august to visit some family, and we're gonna get some virginia cache's to add to our map/list of places we've cached!

But thanks guys, ill keep everyone posted on what they find. i got back this coming wednesday for a check-up.
