Its been quite a month for myself and my wife Carrie, and today has been no exception my uncle Herb McCarthy passed overnight,he was a special man to us,a outdoors man,a angler,a snowmobiler,a AATVer,and a best friend. He was born in 1920 in the Niagara Region from parents that came from England.A family of eight some of which fought in WW2,he was the gentlest man I ever met and we spent many hours travelling the northern bush hunting fishing and portaging,he was a farmer his entire life and feed many I will miss him,he had a wonderful life and the ravages of time had taken its toll and the powers that be lifted his license a few years back, but Herbs mind was sharp, every week for the last five years I would take him on a Thursday to shop for grocery's,and beer or the occasional bottle of whiskey and would partake of a cocktail or two when we reached home.Yesterday was no exception,we talked at length about a picture I had found while doing a clean out of my parents home that showed him and my grandpa with their grouse in hand after a successful hunt back in the fifty's,and reminisced about the north and the trips, got home had a beer together and I went on my way,Herb passed thru the night and I will miss him much his health had stopped him from being in the north this past few years, but as I just found out my wife and I will be transporting him to his final resting place as he has requested ashes spread in the north at a location only him and I know,Godspeed Herbert George you will not be forgotten.Rob
