Thank you Don that is it in a nut shell don't over think this stuff if you don't feel safe with something then we will probably have a problem with it if you feel safe then its probably okay.

I was just curious as to whether the tech inspectors, whoever they may be, would be following the letter of the law or the spirit of the law. As long as they show some common sense, I don't think there will be a problem with setups that can't quite follow the letter of the law.
Thanks

My seat is a seat that is for a 4x4. The "suspension" part is in the seat. It just has a lot of cushion in it but it doesn't actually move, it is stationary. Joe H had one in his machine last year if you remember seeing it. My seat last year was hard plastic but still stationary. My lap belt was mounted to the frame and my shoulder belts were mounted to the sides of the transmission and came up the back of the seat and through holes that were molded into the seat. Could I still do that or do I have to come up with something else? My new seat has the same holes as my plastic seat. In my opinion, the frame of the seat is not strong enough to mount the belts to. I would have to build a separate frame for the belts and I don't see that happening this close to race time.Originally posted by LittleG View PostExactly its simple solid seat mount belt to frame behind under seat suspension seat mount to seat with limiter strraps and make sure nothing can get caught up in the chains or sprockets

So, "Do It- Do It", seat belts mounted to seat frame with limiting straps of safety material.
That's done for tech inspection. PHEW!

I was thinking the same thing, Marc. If the seat moves and the belts are mounted directly to the frame, it'll eventually start to hurt.

Actually a good question if you have a suspension seat. I would think if the suspension seat has suficent structure the belts can be mounted to the seat support. I suppose limiting straps or cables would also work if the seat does not have a separate frame.

Can someone explain this to me a little better? I just want to make sure that I am doing it correctly. Thanks
"Belts must be attached directly to the frame or in the same area of vehicle as the roll-bars and on a plane parallel to the bottom of the driver’s seat, or lower. Please make sure that any excess belt be cut off or taped up so it DOES NOT get caught in the chains."
