  • Here's a few videos of the races. I'm afraid my camera lady favors the boys & me, but there's some good footage of others as well. The commentary is pretty entertaining at times, too. The second vid is three of the old-time racers: Kevin Obermiar, Scott Slonaker, and Ron McKay. In the Geezer race clip, Sue didn't start filming until Ron and I started, which was towards the end of the race.

Stuck in the seventies- not in the swamp.

    (6) Attex, a Hustler, a Super Swamp Fox, (2) Tricarts, (3) Tri-sports, a Sno-co trike, 3 Dunecycles, and a Starcraft! ...so far

I might have that race. If I do, I'll post it soon.

      • When Don, Bud and Q were racing together the boys(seemed to me) ran the hardest they had ran all day. They were chasing Dad and that is a good thing. Don is quiet the drive so when they catch him or pass him we will all have to watch out. Great job to all, and as the younger drivers pull up to the line it ensures the life of the sport.

Noticed a lot of new faces this year and hope to see more next year, keep building and see all next year!!!!

Great videos Sue and thanks for posting Don!

Bye the way who is Kevin Obermier? I talked with him but know no history on him. Maybe someone can fill me in.
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways , cigar in one hand, whiskey in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!!!"

Kevin Obermiar (I spelled his last name wrong in the original post, Sorry Kevin) Raced Attex in C stock (and D stock?) in the early to mid 70s and I'm pretty sure he was involved with the Chaparral team as well. Someone told me he was the guy in a white jumpsuit driving the white Chap in the pictures, but I'm not sure of that. I had the pleasure of buying a couple machines from Kevin and his Dad. They're great folks and it was always a pleasure to head up to Cooperstown, where lots of ATV races were held, and see them. My only problem is the fact that I'm always late getting back on the road when I start talking to old-time racers.

            Hi Everyone,

What a great time we had this year!!! The Attex Nick raced with the 29 EFI Kohlet ran great and did well, My Super Chief ran well but I lost a wheel in one race and a belt in the other but overall had a great time. As far as the Twin Turbo Mudd-Ox not so much. The engine was far from stock. After tearing it down we found the piston rings had cut through the cylinger walls into the coolant jacket. It sure was fun while it lasted!!!

            • Whipper & I enjoyed those videos yesterday morning with a cup of coffee. It was so much fun listening to all the hootin & hollerin during the races. Seeing Bill's dog on the track.
How nice to see Ron McKay after all these years. Maybe Randy will be able to come to the next race, too. Wish I could remember Kevin, but it has been around 40 years. Now if someone could hunt down Larry Shorts.....
Late start, but the footage of you & Ron was so cool.

                    • Congratulations on the win, Diane. Little G had #4790 running good for that race for you.
