  • Trying to set up Meet/club for Owner is the United Kingdom

    Hi guys

I'm trying to get hold of all the 6x6/8x8 vehicle owners of the UK to try and set up and meeting for Sunday the 26th of October at Tanks Alot, Tank Driving, Tank Driving Gift Vouchers, Corporate Tank Driving Events

There will be a 5 day weather check before the event as if it's been raining his site will be a nightmare mega muddy and as you can see if you click on his website he uses tanks so you can guess why and Saturday is a busy day for him to
If it stays dry it will all be good and the event will run as planned
Please let me know anyone in the UK who wants to come and just PM me details and I keep you all updated about what happens

Look forwards to hearing back from you guys and anyone who wants to come from other country's your more then welcome just let me know

Not enough notice for me Tom. Son's off to Portugal for the weekend next week and we need to build a second trailer to carry them down on. Also got a christening to go to that weekend for my nieces new son.
Try and sort out another if you can but need 4 or 5 weeks notice as we're very often busy at weekends.

I'll try and get Richie to bring a max or two down, Preton's a good haul from Northampton though (well, it is for us, our American cousins wouldn't bat an eyelid at a 4 hour drive I don't think)

Yeah no worries Rod I know it's last min only in the past week I've had a few guys contact me about starting a club or just doing a meet so I understand
You and your sons will be missed but hopefully if this all goes to plan there will be many more in the future
If you can make it on the Sunday even without a vehicle it be nice to see you and just get you to meet the rest of the guys
Yeah if you could tell Richie Id very much appreciate it and anyone else you know who would be up for it
If anyone wants to arrive Saturday evening to drop vehicles off not a problem

      Currently sort of confirmed
I've got Steved and his vehicle and maybe the owner of the HUGO8x8 and other vehicle owners if he can get them to come

Might be an idea to try and sort out camping ground with basic facilities (Tap and a hole in the ground with a shed over it) for spring / summer Tom. If next year's like this one camping from April to October will be ok. It's only just starting to get chilly at night now.

Hi Tom, Richie can't make this one either, too short notice. He says he will come down but dependant on dates. I think we need a lot more notice mate, probably two or three months of a provisional date if possible so we can re-arrange to fit everyone in.

A club / website would be a really good idea. Setting up a website is well beyond me but I'll help. It needs to work alongside this one though with links to here, not against it, a sort of uk division. That's assuming Mike has no problem with another site being "friendly"
The website would generate it's own club. I don't mind putting a few £££ in if required.

MaxIV Mark and Shawn H drove 3 hours each to get to my place so we could carpool 12 hours to go to Busco this weekend. 4 hours I could do blindfolded in my sleep. Heck I've driven 4 hours just because I forgot something at home and felt like going back to get it.
l like to buy stuff and no I don't do payments!

A 4hr drive bores me to death. Got to go to Devon Tuesday to sort out some invoices (they owe me) and I'm not looking forward to it. Mile after mile of motorway . It will be heavy traffic all the way there and all the way back, nose to tail for best part of 400 miles.

Damn that's a shame Rod I was hoping for more numbers as at the moment there just not enough numbers for my mate to make it worth him allowing us to use his site which is a big shame but understandable so unless Steved can round up a few guys and get the numbers up to more 10 to 15 plus guys

Rod I will hopefully have a website up and running soon and I want to run it inline with Mile if he's ok with that and I agree it was short notice and I'm sorry about to and hopefully I will have a few dates set out and maybe we can integrate a few paintball events in to monthly meet ups as I've had an offer off a company that runs big paintball events that he will give us paintballs and guns and money for fuel if we allow them to use our vehicles in the scenario and let me tell you your have a blast

In regards to camping that is possible at this site if we arrange it as he's got toilets blocks and I think a shower but Me personally rather a hotel as there a few near by that are cheap

Don't think the paint balling would interest me Tom but I'm sure my son will give it a go. I would rather camp by the side of my Argo than leave it while I was in a hotel, this is the UK after all. Toilets and shower is all I need.

I think the website should be the first step, then there's somewhere to direct possible newcomers to, and announce meets. At the moment a club would have members spread too thinly with no communication. It would soon fall apart. It all needs a central hub, somewhere to "go"

"I would rather camp by the side of my Argo than leave it while I was in a hotel, this is the UK after all" Rod-what does this statement mean? Are you worried about someone joy riding it or do you like primitive camping?

I'm sure your be up to the game player party and camping and bonfire
Yeah I get that and I understand that not a problem I make sure there camping for everyone as yes everyone's vehicle did cost a lot of money

Yeah I agree I will get on to my brother wife who makes websites and get her to make me one and I get Mike and you in on Mods and see if you can join this site up with the new one so people who have paid on here can still have the same rights
I'm looking at maybe getting a fee of like I dunno £5/10 off everyone to put towards maybe refreshments or something like that

Larry, it's reached the stage over here in the UK now that you have to look after your own stuff mate. There's no deterrent for thieves now, IF they happen to get caught they would get community service for a few hours and that's it . They can thieve to their hearts content knowing that if unemployed (and they will be) they cannot pay a fine or court costs so they end up with a few hours of painting church railings and such.
They can't work in direct sunlight, rain, on ladders, in the cold, by traffic or anywhere else that may infringe their rights to a safe and healthy environment.

In other words, they go free with absolutely no punishment to speak of.

Hi Tom, I quite like the camping scene and I'm definitely not leaving two Argo's unattended unless under lock and key AND alarm.

You'll end up under canvas as well mate once everyone starts the ball rolling, it'll go on into the night

If it's to be at your mates tank site see if you can get shooting permission (written) and we can go lamping or use the night vision Understand if he's against it.

Yeah I know once I get in to it I enjoy it but it's just the thought of it at first lol
I totally understand you and we been in a locked compound if we stayed at his as most of his spares and vehicles are worth hell of a lot in scrap and as vehicles so he locks his gates and there a few guys who live on site as well
He's got shooting permission as he uses shotgun for clays but I will ask him and let you know and doing a bit of night vision tank driving would be fun to
