I think just about everybody had decided to call it a weekend when we left yesterday afternoon. The roads going into the park were already flooded pretty badly in spots. Q made it back to base with no problem and we made it home safely as well. Lots of cars hydroplaned off the road along the way- just too much water coming down to wash off the road quickly. Picture is the camping area where we usually pitch our tents. There were rivers cutting through it yesterday and the lake was creeping closer and closer.

I had planned to be there but 3 days before it was time to go i found out that I needed to build a adition to the barn for a new horse. With money constraint and the storm coming i choose to stay home and build a darn. I hope everyone made it home safely.

I got stranded in Selma, NC all roads out where flooded or blocked by downed trees and electrical lines. Spent the night there in motel parking lot. NC70 dried out enough to pass this morning and made my way to Raleigh and out via Charlotte. Made it home ok. If you guys can look at busco beach fasebook page for videos and photos of the park. John's max4 and camp is flooded. The main pond rose up to the toilets by the old snackbar. There are many trailers underwater or washed away. I suspect the Neuse River is what flooded the complete park out.

well boys and girls, that was quite the adventure ! as deedee said, we had great ride thursday ( me,deedee and kris, norm and john ). some light rain and drizzle. friday good rides with dan67 and sam and group showing up. rain off and on. woke up saturday to pouring rain. dan, john and i went for breakfast. by the time we got back, two things were taking place. dan e. arriving with new vengeance and mr. hurricane mathew arriving with a vengeance. by the time we headed out on the trail ( i rode with dan e., ) the wind and rain were brutal ! but once we were in the woods the trees protected us some. the place did'nt look the same because of all the water !! but dan 67 was a good guide. by the time we got back it was really cranking. don and theboys were packing up,lewis was too. john's tent was blown apart ( he had gone to find a motel ) and sams tents were flooded. after standing outside with nowhere to go dan67 and i decided to pack it up. it was pretty had driving up 95. i went 2 hrs. then got a motel. deedee called this morning later and said the park people woke them up at 6 and said to get out. so the rest left. i'm sorry before dan and i left we did'nt think to tow john's max 4 up to the other side of the rode, and move his tent and supplies, but at that point it was hurricane conditions. i hope all his stuff is o.k. sorry john. that,s the scoop. those who did;nt come from far made the right decision i think. should be a good turnout in april. johnboy va.

Well this ride was about as interesting as it gets. Arrived late Thursday evening and set up camp. Earlier in the morning we went on a search ride for John's machine to fix a chain issue, was a pretty good ride. We even broke up into search parties and found the machine and did the repairs. At this point the gang continued the ride as i went back to take Kane out while conditions were favorable.
This was my Grandson's very first Argo ride, he is almost 9 months old. Had to make the conditions right and that was tough this time. We got to ride a while and then it started to rain again so it was not as long as i would have liked but he seemed to enjoy it. My wife(Peggy), son(William) and Q Kinyon were all in support of the effort. Q got the footage and now we all have memories for life of his first Argo ride. Fastened the car seat into the machine and strapped him in and away we went, only inside the park riding for him for now. We were hoping that Matthew would not effect us as much as it did but that was not the case.
Yet we did not get to ride much, old and new friendships were welcome. I hope all have made it home safely by now. This has been been one for the books and to be talked about for a while. I have a few pictures and a sort video i will post up. Right now i any in the process of getting everything sorted and dried.....and cleaned.
Even brought tires for Marc but no one was headed back that way. Well at least they are really, really clean.Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways , cigar in one hand, whiskey in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!!!"
