I think the Hoot with the impressive performance had the Argo tires on it. Does anyone know the actual width of the frontier tires at 2psi??
    Hammers should have warning labels.

And yesterday, me and Mudbug were trying to figure out where you can weigh your amphib?? Thoughts anyone??...the original Hustler brochures said 800lbs, but I honestly don't believe I am much over 700...

The waders are a great tool...not only for staying dry, but ticks, mosquitoes, etc. I need to get me a light pair like Dave, I only have the thick insulated ones.

        rdr ,

I have owned my Max IV since 2003 and I read this forum and Route 6x6 daily , so I am well aware of what you are saying . This is common knowledge , but , as they say there are always eceptions to every rule . If you ever get the chance to ride at River Run Park and see the areas that boncrshr and I ride in ,,some times slow tire speed is no better than none at all . Every time boncrshr and I go to River Run Park we find different trails that we,ve never driven on before , and the mud and depth of water varies in each and every area we ride in . In the video boncrshr posted you can see me struggling with my Max IV trying to gain any forward mometum at all. Spinning the tires slowly with low throttle worked in 80% of the mud holes we drove through , but not in the Suicide hole . In that hole I tried low throttle and medium throttle , and neither of these worked in that pudding mud .This kind of mud called for more tire spin and leaning extremely left and right , to let the speed of the spinning tire sling the mud off . This is how to gain traction with a Frontier tire , Roger says in certain mud situations . " Some times " spinning the tire faster helps to sling the mud off and keep you moving forward . Most of the time I only use low to moderate throttle . A very light and narrow amphib like a Hoot would have an advantage with the Frontier tires , because you could lean the tub at even more extreme angles , left or right . And , with more throttle applied while rocking the Hoot tub left or right , you could keep mometum going while slinging the mud off the tire lugs . This is why the Vampires on boncrshr,s Hustler 950 mud so well in " most " of the mud at River Run Park , because of the wide spacing between the center lugs . I am seriously thinking about installing six Vampires on my Max IV , and also on the Hustler 980 Bigfoot I just bought .

The Good year Terra tire is fast in the water and good in most mud conditions , but they got mightymaxIV stuck six different times on his first trip to the swamp near his house . He was so disgusted with them that he took them off , and installed Swamp Fox Plus tires instead . Lee has an Argo Frontier that " had " Frontier tires on it. The very first week he took it out to a local atv park. He got stuck so many times the first day out at Doles ATV park , that he took the frontier tires off ,and never installed them again . He replaced them with agressive Mud Bug tires . A tire that works great for a person in the places that they like to ride in , will not always be the best tire some where else . I would not have made it a quarter way across the Suicide Hole at River Run , atvPark, with the Good year Terra tires I assure you . Thats why eventually I took mine off , because I had to work so much harder to follow boncrshr in his Vampire equiped Hustler . Where we ride at the Vampire tires swim well enough to get you across a slow moving river , creek , or a large still pond , but they are outstanding in thick mud where a Terra tire will just glaze over .

CLICK ON 480p AT THE LOWER BOTTOM RIGHT FOR BEST VEWING.

Watch this Utube video and you will notice how boncrshr and I both keep increasing our throttle openings until we find the right throttle speed that works to keep us moving forward in the pudding mud .

                Mudding!!!

Wow! That is really some tough mudding conditions! Both of your machines handled those conditions very well. I must say Dave that you are getting to be quite the driver in extremely hard mud conditions! You fought your max through that very tough mud hole with just a little water in it! I would have probably got my winch out and just pulled myself out! Enjoyed the show. Scott's husler with Vampires continues to Amaze me. I wish you could have got him going through the suicide hole on video!

                    mightymaxIV ,

Yes,,I will be sure to do that next time we go to River Run Park . Boncrshr would have had a video of him driving his Hustler across the Suicide Hole " if " I,d remembered to turn the record buttom on . I was looking through the veiw finder on his Sony camcorder thinking I was recording the action ,, but all I was doing was watching the action through the veiw finder .

This is the second River Run Park video that I took with my Flip Ultra camcorder . I was not going to post it because the video footage had so much movement in it . This is because I was walking at the waters edge trying to get the best video footage , and also get the best video angle to shoot boncrshr,s Hustler as he drove it to the very end of the water and the trail started again . The Flip Ultra takes exellent video footage , but it lacks the zoom feature that boncrshr,s Sony camcorder does .

This is the atv park in east Texas that Wildtexasranger, Noel , Boncrshr and myself like to ride at. We are planning on having a even bigger group ride in 2010.

Good vid, Dave. The owner looks like a really nice guy. I'm ready for a winter ride. East Texas winter, temp in the 50's.

                            Roger,

I,d be open for a winter ride at River Run atv park , but I,d rather wait until 2010 when more amphibs are up for a group ride. By then Wildtexasranger,s wife will be able to ride with us too. She just loves this stuff!

                              Roger ,

2010 should be an exellent year for an amphib ride if you come to River Run atv park this year. We have had plenty of rain , and a lot of the park got flooded when the Sabine river over flowed into the park. This gives you an idea how the park looks now.
