I was thinking it might be fun to do a dice run at Lake George this winter on the ice.

    Any takers?

Yeah, that's not selfish at all is it? Naming a lake after yourself and then wanting to have a ride there.

                Well,

I've looked at the official web site. It looks like there will be a dice run on the weekend of February 21st.

Events, Third Weekend Of February - Lake George Winter Carnival

I sent an email to TrailPass.com and they did reply.

                Hello George

We are still in the process of determining what events we are going to do
this year. We will post them at TrailPass - Home as soon as we have all of
the details firmed up. I would expect this info in about a week or so. As
for registration, you register when you arrive. There is no need to pre
                register.

                Have a great holiday!!

I'll be out of state the weekend before but I'll be back in enough time that I could pull this off. I've never been to Lake George in the winter. I would imagine it could be really cold. If I go, I'll take the springer. That means I'll be even colder than really cold.

The TrailPass web site did show an Argo in one of their pictures so perhaps that was one of us. Does that ring a bell with anyone?

OK. I've registered and insured the Apache. Now, the weather needs to stay cold for the next month (but warm up when I get there). I've been checking out articles and pictures on the web. It looks like a pretty big party.

                        Anyone else want to come?

George; are you going up for the day or weekend? Looks like fun, maybe next year and would like to get a Hotel and take in the evening ride.
Was it easy to register the Apache in NY?

                            Hi JBF,

I'll go up to the Binghamton area Friday and leave early Sat. morning to head to Lake George (about 3 hours away). I only plan on being there for the day. If you want to break the trip up (this year or next) you can swing by my place.

Registering the Apache was not too bad. It would have been easier if I had a title. I had to have it weighed. I had to take a picture of the VIN and they kept a picture of the machine I brought to show them what it was. The picture did not have the suspension kit in it. I wanted it to look like the vehicle in the owner's manual that I also brought along.

It was 3-4 papers to complete, most of which were to explain how I got it and why it was not titled. I was in DMV for about 15 minutes.

I'm not sure the weight was accurate. It weighed in at 640 lbs on a truck scale at a quarry. That's only 15 lbs more than a stock Super Chief. All I know is I had something to give the DMV.
