  • GeorgeFest/Porkslap Jamboree

Well, I decided to have a few friends come by and check out my stomping grounds this weekend. The Buffalo folk started referring to it as “GeorgeFest” a few weeks before, but Friday night “The Porkslap Jamboree” might have become the official name of the event. I thank HydroMike for his instrumental role with both names.

People started rolling in Friday afternoon and the attendance grew right up through Saturday afternoon. There were 14 amphibs and 6 quads carrying 29 riders through the fields, woods, streams and ponds of the Catskill Mountains. We had folk from eastern and western New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and quite a few Carolina Boys and Girls too!

The great weather meant we were all comfy during the day and huddled around the fire at night. In traditional 6x6World/Busco Beach fashion, there was more food and drink than necessary. We had all the old favorites (Robbie’s BBQ, Lew’s Country Style Ribs and Beth’s Biscuits and Gravy) and some new favorites like Mike’s homemade pickles. My son claims to have eaten 40…I’m not sure he’s exaggerating.

Anyway, I had a blast and I’d like to thank all my good friends for loading up their machines and in some cases…driving half a day, to come play in the Catskills this weekend.
I invite those with stories, pictures or videos to share them with the rest of the gang here. I have lots of video and pictures from the event and will get them on the site shortly.

What an amazing weekend! First and foremost, thanks to our host George and his family for allowing this shin-dig to actually occur. His family's camp is absolutely gorgeous, and nestled back off the beaten path enough so it's perfectly silent, perfectly beautiful. We had an amazing turnout of folks from all over the place; Jersey, North Carolina, PA, New York (forget anybody?). The accomodations were great, and the cooking that all the folks contributed was out of this world. I take pride in contributing to the health of the bunch by bringing one of the only vegetables. Nobody's insides were the same after a couple homemade habanero dills....

The riding is fantastic. Lots of hills beautiful woods, fun little ponds... I brought the RIM this year, and it performed just about flawlessly until the VERY end of the ride, when I lost a wheel. Turns out the whole weld on the hub had been PORKSLAPPED years ago by someone else, and I never caught the bad fix. A beefy 26" Goodyear went careening down the hill, and luckily ran into a tree before finding its' own way back to camp.

I hope everybody got home safe that's left, and a safe journey to those still travelling. Hope to PORKSLAP you all again next year.

GeorgeFest/Porkslap Jamboree Well, you had to have the 1st one to know what to name it. Sounds perfect. I am thoroughly enjoying the pics in the gallery so far. I will abuse some of you in them later. With affection, of course.

Yes, GeorgeFest/Porkslap was a hit. WOW!!! Tons of pictures, videos, food, entertainment, fellowship and down right fun. It is always a pleasure to be around this group. A few new faces were added and hopefully they will come again. Yes and Mike did bring the only vegetable......nearly burnt a hole in stomach!!! Yet was still quiet tasty! . Arrived home safely and hope all our traveling members and friends have also.

Thanks George for having us and providing such great accommodations. Until we all gather again: Stay safe and may God bless you and your!!!!

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways , cigar in one hand, whiskey in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!!!"

Well, we have finally made it home! after covering 205 miles of I-81 through PA in a mere 7 hours, we were feeling rather PORKSLAPED! what should have been a 10 hour drive home took almost 14. after all the fun at the Jamboree, we went on to my parents house in upstate NY for a few days and got a bunch more riding in. my dad got his first real stick time and put a hurting on the Wild Wolf. he bent axles worse than I ever have and broke the right rear... all in the name of fun.
A HUGE thanks to the George's for hosting us last weekend. hopefully we all behaved well enough to get invited back. great to see everyone again and the riding was awesome too.
