Welcome to Facebook - Log In, Sign Up or Learn More

This Saturday morning Lee and I will Have our Argo 650 Frontiers with Adair tracks at the Big nasty ATV park for some mud and swamp riding-conditions should be medium water with some very bad mud. If you live within a couple hundred miles of Savannah and enjoy extreme riding conditions we would love to have you join us. If you haven't had the chance to see an Argo with Adair tracks face to face this would be a good opportunity to see just what these machines can do. If your interested in joining us let me know, more AATV's = more fun, see you there. I have attached a link to the Big nasty face book page for directions and information.

See you in the morning-Lee Argo 650 with Adair tracks; Dan with my two Grand sons, Argo HD 650 with Adair Tracks, David Argo 650 HD with Adair tracks, any one else like to join us? Should be a great day for AATV's at the Big Nasty. (I will post some video tomorrow night)

This morning will be the debut of Lee's fully modified 30 horse 750cc Generac powered Frontier with a 330 low transmission. It's going to interesting to watch this torque monster in action. We will be going through every challenging area in the park. It should be a great ride.

This is one of several videos, the entire park was flooded, fun on every trail trail, we went into several areas that were so rough they couldn't be filmed, this is one area we got on film

Note: I am making this video again in HD-for some reason the video quaility is not here, I will repost it later.

Argo 650 HD modified VS Stock 650 HD VS Argo Frontier with an Old Style Transmission

Yesterday had the privilege of spending an entire day at the Big Nasty ATV Park with MudBug3 (MudBug3 Has a Modified 2011 Argo 650 HD with an old style exhaust system and a K&N filter- these modifications were made to his machine because of the new Argos tendency to run hot).

GaMudBug Has just purchased a 2011 Frontier 580 with the following up grades:
professional installation of a Generec 750cc 30 horse power V-twin engine, an old style Argo 3.3 low transmission, wheel bearing extensions on the front and rear axles and of course a set of Adair generation 10 tracks on a set of Argo 24 inch tires

My stock Argo 650 HD with a set of Adair swimming tracks on Argo 24 inch swimming tires.

First let me say this, none of the machines got stuck! We took all three machines down into a swamp creek and into an area covered with water, roots, fallen trees, and tree stumps. The area was so rough and "INTENSE" that both Lee and David complained and asked me to take them into another area. The terrain so so rough that we only got about 15 seconds on video because moving through this area required absolute concentration.

We ran through the swamp and mud areas, then went down several flooded trails, when these didn't provide enough challenge Lee Lead us down into a swamp creek filled with trees and roots; it was a total challenge to move in this area because of the fallen trees, the roots, soft mud and the fact that there was no trail and the trees were very close together. We also ran the machines through some areas where the roads had been washed out and these areas were filled with roots, fallen trees and washed out mud areas (we got a couple of minutes of video of this area). We also went through the very soft clay bottom mud pits. Every machine machine was up for every challenge, here's what I learned:

It got into the 90's in the late afternoon, I had to run with my hood off to keep my my machine cool. David was able to run his modified HD with the hood all day and his machine never got hot, the exhaust note as you can tell from the videos was very, very nice.

Lee with the 30 horse Generec and low geared old style transmission is an absolute work horse, his machine was able to go every where David and I went with very little effort. On one occasion Lee climbed a sand hill that was so steep I thought he would flip his machine over. Never at any time did the old style transmission show a disadvantage in any of the terrain and Lee's machine was geared so low that he didn't need low range and at times he had as much or more control than David and I with the old style transmission.

I have already posted a couple of videos and will post a few more. All and all it was an exciting fun filled day with three machines that beat the best Big Nasty could throw at us.

My stock machine ran hot all day and I had to run with the hood off. The modification David made paid dividends and kept his Argo HD running cool and sounding good all day long.

Great videos! looks like you guys had plenty of water areas. Got any more?
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways , cigar in one hand, whiskey in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!!!"

Very nice ride ya'll. I couldn't see that any machine had an advantage over another, which shows how capable an Argo really is. I did like the tone of Lee's and Dave's machines, it was very raspy and sounded to be exhausting easier than the Dan's stock machine. I have to ride with my hood off as well, until I come up with a better solution for a cold air intake.
Back here in Texas, our 100+ degree days and lack of rain has converted our swamps into dust bowls, so it was nice to see how wet Big Nasty is.
Looks like everyone had a blast there.

awsome videos Dan...thats a ride that im sorry we missed...all the machines look like they ran and got around great...i was listening for belt squel on the big block generac, but never heard it...did the custom clutching ever slip and make any belt noise? also, in his opinion was there much difference in usable performance between Lees old 23 and the his new 30? What was his first impression of the new custom 6x6 with all the unique features? in your opnion are their any significant strong points of each machine with the slightly different setups, they all made it look pretty easy and they really didnt look like they left much of a footprint? by the way, does the MAX4 ever get to go out and play anymore???

as always, you guys are fun to watch...thanks for sharing your videos :-)

Lee's machine with the 30 horse Generec never came close to a belt squeal, the clutching was perfect and Lee NEVER had to use low range. Lee had better water control than both Mudbug and I and his machine never got hot. As you can see from the videos we spent a great deal of time swimming down swamp creeks and Lee's machine never missed a beat. I HAD LEE making 90 degree turns in swamp creeks and climbing steep banks just to see if his machine would do it and he NEVER had one problem it those very, very difficult situations.

The installation of the engine was almost perfect and looked better than a factory job.

Lee said his machine was actually over powered with much more grunt than he could use. His machine is ideal for pulling out side by sides with the super low range gearing.

I never saw Lee at any disadvantage at any time and his machine was most impressive in everything he did.

As I stated eariler I saw Lee climb a sand hill so steep I thought he would flip the machine over backwards and he never lost traction. It was an in crediable sight.

Mudbugs modified HD ran cool all day and sounded great. MudBug likes the low range but I rarely use the low range on my HD and ran the whole day using low range only once or twice.

None of our machines ever came close to being stuck and we went through some treacherous conditions. Both Lee and Mudbug thought the park was a blast and we never got the chance to go into several areas.

We climbed out of mud holes and up muddy banks that gave that quads fits. The water hole in the video had a climb so steep that both Lee and I took on water in the rear end but as you can see the machines climbed right out. This hole is hard climb when its dry.

All in all we had to much fun.

On the debut of Lee's machine he drove through a hundred foot mud pit, spun around, drove sideways and back out. A Polaris Ranger with 29 inch outlaws, said I can do that, Lee told him to give it a try, the Polaris backed up, got a run at the hole and was stuck before he got his back wheels into the hole. Lee pulled him out and then drove through the hole again.
