Thanks Lewis, I will get it right one day. It's been a heck of a time at work but come March things should die down just in time for me to get ready for Busco in April. I was able to get Mel a Max II, I so got to take some pictures of it.

Utube chopping the music off the videos is the reason i went with Vimeo. I havn't had one rejected from the site yet. I know it does not have as broad a base as utube, but i make them for the site members mostly to show them the machines and the fun we have on a group ride.

As George posted i have heard music on various videos that i have purchased due to the fact i never heard them before, people listen to different music and bring many different tunes to the table for use to enjoy. I'm not stuck in the old days but that is where my widest base of music is from. I really enjoy the new music but totally hate listening to all the BS on the radio so that sort of knocks a lot of the channels out. In fact i don't listen to the radio in my vehicle unless i travel long distances.

I haven't had one rejected in a while but it's better to save a little time up front then to put a bunch of time in and get the video rejected.

We'll have to try that. Vimeo is our back-up. We usually just want to get a video up on the site to share with our 6 wheel buds & take the path of least resistance.

I never understood the logic...I've purchased music I've heard in videos that I never would have been exposed to if not for Youtube. For example, I've just purchased "Float On" by Modest Mouse.

Warner has pissed me off so much, that I make an effort to only borrow their music from my public library.

Damn....I hope Modest Mouse is not on that label.

When I go to add a song to a video, I still will search youtube for that song and make sure other people have used it. Most songs have videos on youtube that show the lyrics. If you see that, you should be able to use the song. I haven't had one rejected in a while but it's better to save a little time up front then to put a bunch of time in and get the video rejected.

At the time you were having trouble with music on your videos, Youtube was fighting with the big music companies. There were only one or two that allowed their artist's music to be used. Now Youtube has come to an agreement with most of the larger music companies. Youtube has software that screens every video to see if it matches registered / copyrighted songs and if it does then, based on the music company's preferences, they will either ban the video or allow ads to be shown on the video. If the music company allows ads to be shown, they and Youtube split the profit based on their contract.

Most of the industry now allows their songs to remain on videos and just takes a portion of the profit from the advertisements. Some will only ban the videos in certain countries based on the song too but usually that's not in the US. For instance, the video I just posted is banned from Russia for some reason because of copyright infringement.

That's good to know. Seems like we had the audio disabled on one of our videos from the Sand Dunes. That was in February of this year. Can't remember the artist we were trying to use. Maybe we'll give them another shot. Thanks!
