    argo vs max

I hate to bring this up but did anybody notice that the max had a much easier time than the argo.I like the body style of the argo but the max seems to handle things a little better.. just my two cents.
the videos are awesome i can't wait to own one and start joining you guys..

      mdmheine ,

You are probably referring to my friend Dan ( AKA " MightyMax ) in his Max IV . The reason it looked like it was easier to drive through the mud in the mud pits , is because he is not running stock amphib tires , like the rest of the amphibs , on that video . He now runs a combination of Vampire and Swamp Fox tires . As you have seen in the video , these tires are awesome in the mud .

I,m sure after you guys left that day , lots of ATV riders and also , the people in jeeps that were there watching , had a whole lot to say about what a 6x6 can do .

I hate to retort, but I give Dan credit, his tires are awesome and there were places that they performed better than my Rawhide III's. However, there was one mudhole in particular that both argos made it through with ease that both maxes got stuck in. Dont bash the argo until you've been there.

The reason both Max,s got stuck in that particular spot ,was because of the lower tubs angle shape , ( Dan told me ) of both the Max II , and also the Max IV . This is where the shape of an amphibs lower tub , can make a big difference , when it comes to gettting through a technical trail section or not .

They alway's do! Even when it's just me. It's getting more common to see an AATV, but not enugh for them not to notice!

We were riding around having that discussion for a while. The hole McCoy is talking about has a high spot that's off camber, right in the middle of a boggy spot! The argo's drove through it with no problem because of the heavy front end's. They will always tip to the front and grab as they climb. The max's had trouble because of the rear engine design. They were pulling up on the high area, and all the weight shifted to the rear where there was minimal traction.
Both design's have their weaknesses, and they were both shown that weekend.

                GREASEMONKEY ,

Yes,,Dan also discussed that with me too . Point well taken .
Dan also mentioned to me the same thing you posted , that Gulches Creek showed both the weakness and design strenth of each amohib brand .
