Thanks Roger, I don't feel like anybody's labeling me as an enemy though. I just see people defending thier rides, which is fine (I hate HONDA). I try to see people no matter what they drive as offroaders. Unless ya drive one of those weak, smack talking Hondas

Just a joke for any Honda riders.

There has always been smack talk between brands and I guess 6 wheelers are a brand all there own.

There's something grounding, earthy, about the experience The bottomless holes are something amphibs are good at, though.
Roger how did you like my max in the mud pit?

Thought you did great except you didn't pull up close to the guy in front, shift to reverse and give him a shower. Or make a fast pass down that watery lane on his right side You did pull up on his behind, like "how long you think you'll be here?"

Our tires are the same, most of the time it doesn't do any good to spin them faster, just wasting gas.

          Hey Mighty,

You mentioned that ya'll didn't make too many friends with the high dollar quad guys...what was their reaction to the Max? Did they just grudgingly admit the 6x6 was king? Or were they just completely quiet?
          Hammers should have warning labels.

They were very, very quiet. None of them would say anything. Believe me they all saw what was going on and they didn't like it a bit. Most of those guys have a lot of money in those quads and they are always breaking something. You could see on their faces that they were pissed off that a six wheeler eat their lunch with out even trying! Most of them were probably trying to figure out what they could do to stay competive. I sure that a lot of them were thinking that perhaps it's time to scrap the quad and go for amphibious!

I don,t know him , but I,d like to Its a real small circle of people that ride amphibs in each state , and the people who enjoy them are always looking for more amphib people to ride with . My 6x6 Max IV looks just like the one in the picture you posted . I,m also sure the person who owns this 6x6 Max amphib is looking for people that own amphibs to ride with too .

                    Dan ( aka mightymaxIV )

If you look carefully , the middle set of tires are facing the right direction for water speed . Maybe he has his tires facing this way for maximum through mud , and also for traction up wet creek banks like yourself ?

                      JACKSTAND ,

I,ll try my best to make the Marengo Swamp run because I know the proceeds of this event go to a very worthy cause . These pics show the 12 mile ride through the swamp . Prime amphib country .

I hope some of you guys make it. It would be nice to see some side by side compairason between amphib and quads. I'm obviously pro-amphib and I have only had my Frontier for a year but I can see that is certain circumstances the higher ground clearance, ofter more aggressive tires and higher speed of the quads could have the advantage over an amphib. I'd love to see videos of a mix group going in the same trails.

I'm glad some of you guy's are gonna try to make it. It's a ride noboby ever forgets. I enjoy hereing what other people say about it whether they're first timers or go every year. Some people say it's the Baja 1000 for mud riders. You'll all need your confidence but don't under estimate Marengo. It's not like an ATV park where you can drive down a highline, and find a mudhole to play in, then get out and move to the next one. As soon as you get into the trail it's super slick gumbo (pictures just don't do it), and for 13 solid miles you stay in the gumbo (no dry ground). I've heard people say they normally get 20mpg on thier bike, at Marengo it drops to about 4-5mpg. One guy stopped us on the way out last year and asked what kind of fertilizer we used on the mud. He said it was growing.

The Suicide hole is not your normal mud hole either. If the amphibs get there early they should do really good. In the morning, before anyone has worked up the nerve to try it will be covered with about a foot of water with lilypads on top. The first four wheeler to try will try to ease in and not spin his tires so it doesn't activate the Gumbo underneath (this only works for a few feet). Once the gumbo has been churned up the hole turns into a 100 foot long trench filled with what looks like watered down sack crete. The more people try the more it bulldozes the gumbo to the end of the hole. In the end you wide up with about 70 feet of water and mud, which ain't that bad but the last 30 feet, well,.

Just so everybody knows. The members of Wish I Could are all volenteers, this means all of the money raised goes to grant terminally ill children thier wish. We get nothing but the satisfaction of doing a good deed.

Hopefully some of you guys will show up and we'll have something new to watch. Nothing would make me happier than to see a 6 wheeler out do one of the Gorrilla bikes.

                              JACKSTAND ,

I talked to a Max dealer ( Magnolia, Ark. ) today , who has been to the Marengo Swamp run several times , and if nothing happens to stop him from going to the event this year,, he told me that he plans to come , and also bring 5-7 more of his 6 wheel , amphibious friends with him . That should make a really good showing for the amphibious crowd , when Dan and I show up in our Max IV 6x6,s
