Somewhere in all the links, I saw a video of the west side field, the one farthest away from the gate and the only one likely to have room on Friday. It was a big field, like crop field, had trees only on the border.

Well, I got back from helping mark trails Sunday, and I'm still sore. The swamp is drier than last year, which means the mud is gonna be thick. The first few miles the mud was as hard as concrete but after a few 100 bikes go through spreading the water around it should loosen up. Be sure to bring mosquito dope they are bad this year. Most of us on the trail crew are pretty accomplished riders and I don't think any of us got through without getting stuck atleast once. Don't get me wrong just because it's a little dry doesn't mean there's not plenty of mud. After all being on the trail crew we're just trying to get in and out (not play) and we still got nasty. We have new pics in Wish I Could album under 2008 Marengo of the trail marking run. Wish I Could of Northeast Louisiana - 2008 Marengo
Thanks for the pics...getting pretty excited now. I wonder how those deep ruts from the quads will affect us?
Also, for those who are camping the night before, maybe we should PM each other cell phone #'s so that we can meet up easier? Also, if ya'll want to eat in camp, I will bring beans and tater salad, maybe some chicken, or is there fast food near there? What I was thinking is that we could divide and conquer on the necessary stuff.
Hey MightyMax,
Are you bringing the infamous daredevil dog? I think I'm gonna leave my lab at home...he'll be upset but the wife doesn't like being at home alone.
Sorry you couldn't make it. The Max looks definitely squared away!
If anyone from 6x6world is still going, I will definitely be there, probably just going to drive up that morning. If you want my cell# to hook up in the morning, PM me. I'll be driving a green Jeep Cherokee towing a multi-colored Hustler!
Ok, I hate to be constantly changing...but I had the pleasure of speaking with MudBug on the phone yesterday, and since no 6x6world members were going to Marengo, he was kind enough to offer to meet up, and we are going riding in his marshy area...I really was only excited about Marengo because of the possibility of riding with other 6x6world members...so we'll definitely still have some video this weekend.

Look forward to The video. I am glad to hear your not heading to marengo by yourself. I so wanted to run that suicide hole. Enjoy your time with mudbug I will get video of the CAW run!
There's quite a few video clips of this '08 event on youtube already. I googled "merango swamp" and looked for recent posting dates. This one guy has a series of suicide hole vids named "Marengo 2008-1" thru "5".

After watching all five of the Marengo 2008 video,s , that were posted on Utube , I,d say thats one bad #$$!! mud hole ! It did look soupy enough though for an amphib to make it through with some agressive mud tires
I guess after several hundred 4-wheeler,s , with really aggressive mud tires drove through the Marengo swamp trails , the mud loosened up quite a bit
Mightymax IV , boncrshr , and I , really wanted to go , but I canceled , because I really did,nt want to fight 13 miles of gumbo clay . I figured just as soon as the gumbo clay built up on all of my tires , the amphibious abilities of my Max IV would be over . That happened to the Max dealer I talked to , that went there last year . Once the gumbo clay glazzes over all of your tires , swimming in the water won,t clean it off . You,ll have to find a stick to scrap it off , the Max dealer told me , if you want to swim with your amphib
Just so ya'll know. The Wildlife and fisheries cleared out a lot of land to within a mile of the suicide hole. Might not be so bad as far as caking up tires.
