HAD FUN!

I showed up to the campgrounds late due to truck problems (FORD) but had fun during the short time I had the maxII on the trails. Fueling problem plus a few other things that demo61x and buggyman1 (my campground neighbors) helped to point out to me had it back at base camp rest of the time. Ended up running the 400ex until I flipped it at the top of the hill backwards! SPECIAL THANKS to Rob for helping with the steering column, we worked that thing over! And Jim and Dave, thanks for breakfast and the conversation. AWESOME RIGS.

Thanks for the knowledge and comraderie this weekend guys. Felt at home immediately. look forward to meeting the rest of you on this site and checking out more rigs. Saw some very cool ones already!

I purchased the roll bar handles from an Ebay vendor. They say "Classic Quad Gear Extreeme" on them and they come in pairs. They strap and have velcro on them and seem to fit the 1 5/8 bar very well. Hope that helps, Keith.

That was the one thing my wife noticed. She felt like one of the group immediately. With the tracks on I like to crawl around a little slower than the rest of the group and there was always someone waiting to make sure we knew were everyone else was heading. I sure hope we can make this a yearly event and others can come enjoy there amphibians with us.

I know the feeling, everytime I see a Busco Beach post or Mud Nationals post I try to figure out how many hours it would be to drive there then reality takes over. The bright side is there seem to be groups of members having a number of rides across the country so hopefully at least one is close.

I got home about an hour ago.....I-94 was a parking lot @ Benton Harbor MI.

Had a great time, and it was fantastic meeting everyone.
Keith: I'd let your wife ride with me if I had a second seat.....within 3 minutes she would never complain about you again , well, I guess you already saw how I drive.

Craig: Just ask JPSwift, we are happy to feed everyone. lol We eat good when we camp, and when Jeff showed up with pb&j , well......

Keith, you work fast. Thanks for posting video already. Your max sounded great. I look forward to seeing everyone else's videos too.

We had a solid day of riding and this time around that pretty much was Cindy's limit. With only a 5 hour drive I uploaded the videos while I cleaned up the Max when we got home this afternoon. The neat thing about the exhaust is the amount of heat that is no longer present in the engine compartment. Really helps keep the passengers cool. Even though she thinks it's too loud Cindy did notice a big difference in back seat heat, or lack of it, from the exhaust.

I know Brandon got some really good video. There were times they figured I had over 1000lbs of mud packed in each track. Thickest, heaviest mud I ever experienced. Packed the gousers tight and it was so stickey it would pick up the soil I drove over coming out of the holes like double faced tape. Funny thing is it never seemed to slow me down that much, just had to squeeze the throttle a little tighter and make the belt scream for mercy now and again. It was a great test for the Max. You will also see a Mud-Ox driven so hard and fast you would think...I still don't know what to think, but it was cool.

Wow! What a fun place to ride. It's been 11 years since I've been to the Badlands and it just got better with time. It was good to see old friends and meet new ones. Jim, let me start out by saying I thought you did an excellent job of piloting a very capable machine. And are you sure you could stand to listen to her scream at you for a full three minutes? Your Max II really looked awesome out there.

Looks like a neat place to ride & it looks like you had beautiful weather, too.

Bridget, the place was so cool. Sand dunes, sand bowls, cat tails, woods, rocky streams, mud holes, hill climbs, banked groomed trails, mud trails, water ponds. They had it all. They even had tubes to shoot, but that is a Mud-Ox story. (I can still hear that thing whining through the tube and it's belly slapping the water)

Here's the mud hole that the Mudd-Ox got stuck in, Keith made it through with his adairs.....and so did I (at full throttle ) Now I remember the globs of mud hitting me in the back

That was fun. You sure can fly around in your machine Jim. I remember watching you spin it around on the other side of the hole and thinking how it almost got a little tipsy for you.

Jim and Keith: awesome job in the vids, very capable machines and driven well by their drivers. Speaking of the Mudd Ox, the mid engine design does become a dis-advantage in some instances. Just like in the aircraft world for fighters, some imbalance is necessary for a dogfighter. The Max 2 and Max4 with a weight bias towards the rear conquered that particular obstacle where the Mudd Ox may have struggled. Again this proves that there is no perfect machine.
