The video I'm waiting for is when MattO (in the Rzr) and I are racing around a sand bowl......I was full throttle some of the time, and I never saw the back of him. That Rzr is fast!
Noel: I was actually quite impressed with how well the Mudd-ox did. The "V" bottom really helped keep it from being hi centered. Then consider it (at 1600 pounds) has the same Kohler 40 Horse as my maxII, but it seemed to be plenty of power for it. The bad mud hole it got stuck in was really gooey mud. Keith got through because of the tracks. I made it through just by going fast. Once that mud fills the tire treads......you are stuck!

I uploaded about 13 minutes of the 45 +/- minutes I recorded. Wish I could just do a whole video but those are the highlights. I might look for more when I get time and also have a dozen or so real good pictures.
The Badlands offers more diverse terrain than any park I've been to. I was hoping for more amphibs at the ride but what was had was just as diverse as the terrain. Jim's Max II modified with a high tub and 25" tires with 40hp Kohler, Keith's Max IV with 25" tires running tracks, a Mudd Ox and various other Max IVs, Bigfoot, and Frontier. All vehicles performed well at the ride and were very rugged and reliable. The only real 'break down' we had was a Frontier throwing the front chain off the sprocket. I really enjoyed watching Mike from Mudd-Ox Inc. run his 2009 Mudd Ox w/40hp Kohler. I have limited experience with the Ox, I've had one early model and only put about 30 minutes of easy time on it. Mike ran that Ox through everything the Badlands had to offer and put a whoopin' down on most of it. For a big commercial amphib it sure is agile. It flew down trails and blasted through mud holes just as quick as a little 6x6 Max. That Ox will definately take you a lot farther than an Argo thanks to its high V-bottom lower tub and true all wheel drive. Don't even get me started on the open differential Argos....Everybody dies, but not everybody lives.

In my opinion , after owning a Mudd-Ox, the ground clearance that the V- bottom tub gives, plus the added weight of the machine to apply the power to the ground much better than a lighter flat bottom amphib. The Mudd-Ox really has an advantage in certain trail situations but has a disadvantage in other trail situations. There is'nt a machine made that excells in all terrain situations. Very good video, it's always nice to see some action from someone else's view since I am often the only one filming/picture taking. The most amazing part is the fact that all tha video was taken with Matt's phone.... my camcorder doesn't even do that good!
In all fairness, there was one place where the Ox's V-bottom and/or weight helped it through some deep ruts. There was also a few places where the Max's light weight helped it through where nothing else wanted to go/come out of. I pick the hardest looking line through a mud hole just to see if the Max can do it. If not, I'll hit it faster next time or use a slightly different line and it usually goes through. The only thing I'd change on my Max IV is the seat for ride comfort. I was glad to get in my Rzr after a day and a half in the Max!

That brings back some great memories. I was really impressed with the "OX" , not only the ground clearance, but a lot of the hills were real steep. The hydraulics seemed to help control the descent.....it was tricky at times with the t-20. I needed to keep on the throttle to keep the clutches engaged, while braking at the same time. It just goes to show that all the modern machines have strengths and weaknesses.....
