Well, I went out to start my Max. All the starter did was spin. I had my daughter pull up how to remove the starter. It said pull the motor. So I got to work. I finally got it out. Pulling the starter off the motor was worse than pulling the motor. The teeth on my starter were not there. I looked the fly wheel over, it seems fine. I am going to the wood chop shop tomorrow to get a new one. My question is, is there a trick to putting the top bolt in. Getting it out sucked.

Pulling the flywheel will help with pulling the starter......That stupid little plastic gear is cheap, about $5 off Ebay including shipping.

I have had problems with the starter in the past. A new start, as mine is 20 years old is the way I need to go. I would rather not pull the fly wheel. I am going to have a hard enough time putting things back together as is.

I found a way to get the top bolt in the starter mount without removing the flywheel. I used a pair of slotted Pennington pliers that I use in my tattoo shop for naval piercing. It worked good. They are now a part of my Max tool box. Never to be used in my shop again!
