  • carborator fuel shut-off solenoid

Hey guys. Can I pick your brains? I'm currently troubleshooting a possible carborator issue on my 04 avenger. I'm tying to rule out a fuel shut-off solenoid malfunction. Although the solenoid works fine on bench testing, is it possible for it to malfunction after continuous load? (i.e. after the machine has been running for 10 or 15 minutes).

    Thanks

    Probably not.
Unless the electrical connection is bad on the solenoid.
What is your issue.....running rough,no power or stalling?
More likley the fuel filter or fuel pump.
Some members have mods for the solenoid to eliminate it .

I have a 14hp Briggs on a brushhog I built that had one of those aggravating contraptions on it. They only serve as a fuel shut off when you aren't running the engine and yes it would malfunction after running for a while, hit a few good bumps and the thing would go dead. I was able to find one of the old style plugs that held the bowl on that had the same thread, I put it in added a fuel shutoff and it solved the problem.
