I just bought my first 6x6 and it is awesome except for the fact that it wont crank anymore. I bought it Friday and test drove it twice with no problems put it on the trailer and brought it home and ran it for about 30 mins with no problem Saturday I adjust the chains but didn't get a chance to run it. today I cranked it up and drove it around for about 10 mins and I climbed a base pile that we have and all of a sudden it died and will not crank it has spark but I don't think its getting fuel because it will crank with starting fluid so I was thinking maybe coincidentally the fuel pump went out as I was climbing the base pile but just in case I figured I would ask if anybody might have any ideas it is a 14hp vanguard

I was thinking about that because I don't know if it set up or not but it ran really good until it died and it has an inline fuel filter I also took off the gas tank and cleaned it and put fresh gas in it but if some trash got through the filter that could have clogged it up thanks

The carb is easy enough to get to and clean, but I would check the valves first. Make sure they are adjusted properly and you have not floated a push rod. The valve covers only have 2 bolts holding each one on, so its quick enough to check without wasting time.l like to buy stuff and no I don't do payments!

it would be nice but that's never it, I guess it was my fault, when I took the air cleaner off to clean it I saw there were 2 holes with no bolts so I put a bolt in one of the holes and noticed it would restrict air flow so I took it back out, well today when I opened up the carb I found a piece of metal under the floats the bolt I put in was too long and busted the bottom of the hole out so I cleaned everything up and shot some brake parts cleaner through the jets and now it runs but only in choke

Try carb cleaner. Spray into the small brass jets use the straw they give you with the carb cleaner then use compressed air and blow out all the orifices in the carburetor .complete disassembly is a sure way to clean properly. If you unscrew the small jets be sure screwdriver is in the slot perfectly the brass jets are very soft . Press firmly and make sure the screwdriver tip is in perfectly. Once jets are removed hold them up to light a light and see if you can see through the tiny hole . If it's clogged use a small piece of copper were strip wire down use 1 strand then clean with carb cleaner then compressed air again reassemble carefully be be patient .be sure to do all this work on a clean area good luck brother
