Any explanation as to why? It would be helpful to point out any weak spots that have made you come to the conclusion that the motor is junk. Also, are you talking about the VW turbo diesel or the geo metro motor?
geo metro were shoud we start..........lol... its a long list...
I admit I wouldn't want the car, but I have seen those engines go for 150k-200k with what I can only assume is minimum maintainance. If you knew the owners you would understand. I don't see any problem with them in our application. I am actually a bit jealous I have not gotten up the courage to go that route in a machine yet.
ive worked on this motor, pile in back yard......hevey no hp.. want parts ........free.....junk.....lol...u asked
You've not addressed *why* you think these engines are junk. Can you relate any specifics as to why you think so? Lots of folks have had very good luck with these engines in a variety if applications. A lot of indefensible opinions are squarely rooted in ignorance, but I'm willing to turn an optimistic ear to this one....
Not knowing a darn thing about the Geo Metro I will admit but were they not built by Suzuki, only thing I can add is that our touring sled has a 660 cc turbo Suzuki 3 cyl fuely turbo four stroke that has been impeccable, good performance great torque super fuel mileage and 8000 k or 5000 miles and no issues, that would be a ton of AATV driving, its one motor that I would consider for a re power even in the lower hp non turbo,as I said the Metro I know nothing but I thought at one time GM and Suzuki were in bed together,Cheers NCT
Indefensible-Ignorance-optimistic-???-why-are they junk-?? they dont last here in alaska ---timeing belts break- oil pump- starve fuel system dont like ,mosture dont like the cold much ive worked on many of these , hp to weight... well,,,,,if thats wat u got, is junk that strong of word.....lol....

The 1.0L three-cylinder geo engine makes about 55hp and 58 lbs/ft of torque with a dry weight of around 120-140 pounds. (there are literally hundreds of references out there...) That's not too shabby.
In my opinion, any of the small Japanese engines (Suzuki, Kubota, Honda, Kawasaki, and even (gasp!) the Briggs Vanguard) would make great transplant candidates.
I think we'd like to hear from Slimpickin on how his turned out over the long run. And from mad max 500cc if he ever got his built. Anybody else with a G10-powered amphib?
