My max 2 bogs down and stalls whenever i give it gas and put it in gear. in neutral i can rev it all day long but when i put load on the motor it bogs down and dies. its like its flooding because when i let it sit for a while and start it again it works and runs fine for a while but when i let it rip it starts to bog down and die again. ideas?

What type of engine do you have in your machine? How long is the motor running when you notice the bog? Sometimes a bad ignition coil, once the engine warms up will cause it to bog, spit, back fire, stall, pop etc. How long have you had this engine (hours ran)? The valves being out of adjustment will also make engine bog down when a load is put on it, and sometimes also make it hard to start, depending on what valves are out of adjustment. It may be time for a little maintenance,,,, check the valves, clean the carb, check and or change the oil. Not to insult you also, but i did overfilled my 16hp Vanguard with oil one time, which caused oil to blow out of the blowoff valve on the top of the engine into the carb,, smoothering the engine, making it bog down also. Blue and white smoke was everywhere for a while!! Well these are a few ideas that come to mind first. I hope that this will help you out. I'm sure others will chime in.HUSTLEMANIAC and a HONORARY MEMBER of the

Mine did exact same thing. Clean the carb out with carb cleaner and compressed air."You've got to stand for something, or you'll fall for anything"

If it's a Briggs, check to see if you have spark in both holes. I suspect that the rear cylinder has no spark. A Vanguard will Idle and rev great under no load, but act just like you describe under load. This happens when the diode burns out in the wire that connects the 2 coils for the kill circuit.A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

weird thing now, when i first got my max i would start it up then it would be fine. my throttle cable snapped and was replaced, after that my throttle was always wide open when it was off then when it started it revved up high, and after that i put a spring from the throttle on the motor to a nut on the tub. after i did that whenever i ran my max it did as i described. i reconnected a spring that seemed to do nothing and it has run mint ever since but now i am going to go over my wires and diodes and checking spark and coils thanks!

hi
Purchase a spark check tool [adjustable gap and installs with spark lead at one end and a clip onto the spark plug at other ] Run engine at night time and check colour and length of spark . Or u can hold onto plug lead when its running ha ha ha .
The briggs vanny did this only a few weeks ago for me .The engine did not seem to run any different just down on power .
The kohlers on the other hand have run poorly and rough when a cylinder is not performing
U need the briggs vanguard manual for spec and procedures to set linkage / carb
An infared [noncontact tacho] works well also
