Vanguard 18 & 23hp parts interchangeablity

Due to an unfortunate series of events, I'm upgrading engines in my Max 4. I was hoping someone could tell me whether or not any of the parts (starter, exhaust, throttle linkage) on my 18hp Vanguard are interchangeable with a 23hp Vanguard. Anyone have any insight on this? Thanks!

The 18 is a small block and the 23 is a big block engine. Little if anything for engine parts will be compatible. However, the bolt pattern, drive clutch(as long as you stick with the same size shaft), choke cable, throttle cable, and governor spring should all be able to be reused. It is about as simple of an engine swap as you can get.

Awesome...The throttle linkage is what I was hoping would be compatible. I guess I have a month or so to try and find a good deal on a 23 vanguard. Thanks Amphibious Drew!
