  • 31hp Vanguard too heavy for a Max 4?

I'm looking at a 31hp Vanguard for my Max 4, but I'm concerned that it may be too heavy, or that it may be too much power for the running gear. Any opinions would be appreciated!

[IMG][/IMG]I've got a 40hp Kohler in a MaxII with all stock running gear. 49 hours on it since the upgrade with no problems. I did choose a splined axle machine for the project, because I worried about problems with pinned axles. If you do have a pinned axle machine, I would add a second bolt to each sprocket tube. 31hp will be great in that MaxIV

MaxIV Mark has a 29hp Kawasaki in his machine. He recently upgraded his t-20 sprockets with #60 chain due to stripping all the teeth of the t-20 sprockets. He does drive a little crazy, but with that extra hp comes extra risks of breaking stuff.
l like to buy stuff and no I don't do payments!
