      Wheeler, nice write up on all the issues. The devil is always in the details. It's funny how you can imagine yourself easily installing a nearly identical motor by just taking out a few bolts. Then you actually do it and see a big bundle of wires that somehow wasn't in your imaginary picture . You're right that knowledge of how a lot of that goes together would have made it easier but there is always something new to learn and no one can predict the weird things that happen like loosing a good ground. And yes that is a very common bad ground point on the Max IV and I'm sure it has caused trouble for lots of people. If we start listing problems and short falls of the Max, I'm afraid this paragraph would be longer than the one you posted above.
