  • Can you adjust the main mixture on a vanguard?

    I have a 14 hp vanguard and it looks like the only adjustments are idle speed and what looks like idle air mix setting on the side of the carb. This is restricted so it can only turn 1/4 of a turn by stops that are cast into the carb. On mine when I adjust the idle so that it idles low, it stumbles a bit on acceleration. Any thoughts?

    Should be a plastic cap you can pull straight off of the idle mixture screw, then adjust as you like. Main mixture is fixed with an internal jet.. it can be changed but usually not necessary.
