I read somehwere here, about a work around in the case of a failed FD620D starter. Can someone provide more details and perhaps some pictures to illustrate the idea ?
I believe Spookum was successful starting a dead conquest with parachute cord wrapped in the drive clutch. I've started MAX IV's with Kawasaki engines with a flat strap wrapped on the outside of the drive clutch. Never needed it in the field but its possible. A lot of snowmobiles come with a cord and plastic hook that can be wound on the drive pulley in an emergency. hope this gives you an idea.
I have a Super Cub Cadet 1872 with an 18hp Kohler magnum. It is currently blown. But I could stick a long extension with a 3/4" (think that was what it was) socket on it through the grill. I would put it on the crank bolt for the front pto and start it with a Craftsman 1/2" ratchet. I did that a couple times when the battery was dead. I always feel cool when I had to do it. It was like an older crank start tractor. lol
