i have a friend the has a 992cc motor out of a generac generator i was thinking about buying it off of him. but can anyone if i would be able to find a clutch that will work with this motor. If so the old G50B will be up for sale.
here is the best picture of the shaft i can find. thanks for your help.

I think ur best option will probably be to switch out the crank shaft. I'm not sure if the taper is right for any type of tapered snowmobile clutch or not?

that sounds pretty pricey! would you know of anyway to find out if there is a clutch out there that would work if i could get the shaft size?

Personally, I would pass on trying to get that to work in your machine. It's far easier and less stressful to find a suitable engine with the proper shaft than trying to make an oddball set up work.

Note: I don't always follow my own advise.

Unsure if it will work or not but have a clutch off a Gator with a tapered shaft.

          Joe Camel never does that.

The Gator PTO is M30, there is no clutch that fits those generator tapers. you can have a machine shop cut the shaft to a M30 but you'll need to pull it apart, not easy to find parts for them IMO.

A lot taller than the Vanguard and others also.

How bad do you want the horsepower? You might research what a new crank costs (my guess $300), and a new 1 1/18" clutch $400. It would probably make for a great motor for you in a larger amphib.....in a smaller one like a MaxII or an Attex, it'll be a very tight fit????

Notice the reversed secondary clutch needed for clearance.

I was movin' stuff around this morning and i saw i had two vanguards with the tapered PTO shafts.
First one is your Generator style and the other is the 1:10 / M30 taper. with the M30 you have 100's of used and new clutches out there that your also able to tune the engagment RPM's N pressure to anything you want. a machine shop will change the taper for under 150.00 i'm thinkin'. there has been more than one fella that has turned them still in the engine
may sound crazy but it works if ya got the swing in the lathe.
