  • B&S 18hp Crankshaft size

Can anyone tell me the crankshaft size on a 18hp, B&S vanguard engine, it's on a 1999 max iv not sure if that makes a difference. Looking for shaft diameter, length and what size the shaft is tapped to. Thanks.

    It's a straight 1" shaft with a 1/4" keyway. The length is just a hair under 3".

Most are 3/8-16 from what I run into.

I guess what I'm asking is this, on a 1999, Max IV, 18HP B&S engine. What is the Model Series Number? Should be 6 digits- 4 digits-2digits?

Tag, data plate not there missing, fell off, and or removed by a previous owner? So I have no idea of the Model and Series No. which is needed when ordering parts. B&S has so many Models, thought I could go online and figure it out. I find models close but no cigar.

Well if its a 18hp then model #356447-0213-b1 will work for everything but the crankshaft and carb, those two are where most of the different versions come from. the last six digits
