  • 27 hp Kawasaki shuts off after 15 minutes

Wondering if anyone else has this problem or some advice. I've got a Max Iv with 27 hp Kawasaki. After about 15 minutes of riding it slowly shuts off like it runs out of gas. After it kills I'm able to start right back up and go. So far I've drained the tank filled it with non ethanol gas, changed fuel filter , ran sea foam, and tried a different gas cap incase the vent was plugged. And all that didn't help. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

On my 29 hp Kawasaki it kept doing that when I got it. Mine turned out to be the fuel line was deteriorated and collapsed, The machine only had 1.7 hours on it at the time. The pickup line inside the tank was like playdough. I replaced everything with polyurethane line and it has been fine ever since. With the exception of a bad ground to the engine stand every now and then. Something to look for.

So how did that work out for you tbone9? Site member William Council has a 27hp liquid cooled Kawi in his Max II, and had a similiar problem. It turned out that there was short in his electric fuel pump wire. We replaced it with an aftermarket low pressure electric fuel pump found at O'reilleys for about $50. It's been purring like a kitten every since!

I haven't had a chance to get at it. It won't be for a week or so when I get a chance to get it in the shop. But ill be sure to let you know what I find. I'll be sure and check the fuel pump too. Thanks for the advice.

Finally got a chance to look at the max today. Turns out it was a bad connection where the fuel pump plugs into the wire harness. I cut out the plug and but spliced the wires together. Thanks for the help guys.
