The gas tank was wayyy higher when this happen. The front wheels where pulled up on car ramps also facing up high. Why did I do this? To let the water drain out better when it rained. I just forgot and left the choke out. But I guess there could still be a carb problem?

The carb is most likely fine, a in line fuel shut off will solve that problem in storage easy enough. check for the oil leak, the Vanguards retain there oil well so something is not right if its leaving a stain

ok it has a shut off. Today I decided to clean the carb up. when I took the cover off the breather the foam around the air filter was soaked in oil. I think this may have been from the time the gas got in the oil but i dont know. I plan to change the oil and get a new air filter.. put it in and see what happens. What oil would you recommend?? Ps I think the oil came from the air filter. I cant find that it is leaking anywhere . at least not running.

Any oil will work for the first 20 Min run to flush out any crap floating around in there,
Everybody has there own oil they swear by but this stuff is MFG'ed just for hot running air cooled engines. Its not cheap but ya only need 2 qts, I use it in my vanguard pulling tractors and they take a 9K rpm beatings all summer long. works great for cool weather start ups also.
I would buy 2 oil filters and install a new one after the flush

This has nothing to do with this thread but one should Never use Synthetic oil in a new engine of any kind, MFG recommended break in oil is key to a long running engine along with Synthetic oil after break in

hmm maybe the problem with a 150cc dune buggy i rebuilt a few months ago. Kid ran it out of oil... I bought new jugs and pistons and rings. Less then a month it is smoking burning oil like crazy.

They say that the rings will never seat right in the bore with Synthetic, a Ole Briggs engineer told me that each engine left the factory with startup/break-in oil in the shipping box

it has a lot of power but just smokes like crazy.. and cant keep oil in it. maybe I need to just try different oil. Will one smoke if the rings are not seated? I been wondering if maybe the rings are not seated.

I got it running but if you pull the throttle to fast it sometimes dies. What do you think might cause this? It has always had this issue. Also The battery can charge all day and spin the starter enough to start about once but if it doesn't start it takes a while of charging to be able to spin the starter again. I don't know if it is a battery or starter issue.

I was having a similar throttle issue and after a good cleaning and playing with the low mixture issue is gone. How do you know the battery is charging? Have you put a meter to it?

thing is I cleaned the carb really good while I had the engine out. I also put a new air filter on it. How do I check the battery with the meter? I have a meter.

Get it running and see what the voltage is with the engine reving. That will tell you if you are getting a charge.
