I just bought a max 2 with a 440 cc snowmobile engine, it is air cooled, I was wondering is there anything to watch out for, revving it, gunning it all the way, or anything else, please let me know.
Thanks , Nate

There are lots of different air-cooled 440s out there, each with there own specific quirks to watch out for if you want to hammer on it. Generally speaking, use good non-ethanol based gasoline, use a good two-stroke oil at between 30 and 40:1 mix ratio, make sure you don't have any air leaks (carb flange, head gasket, primer lines, tight spark plugs, crank case seals), make sure your clutches and belt are in good shape and go have fun. I wouldn't worry about over-revving it or gunning it. If the engine and the machine are in good shape you'll probably let off the throttle before you run the risk of hurting the engine. A good running 440 in a Max II is a formidable foe.
alright thanks a lot i have a little more reinsurance now that it will be fine to well go fast haha, and i will watch out for the things you mentioned.
Thanks, Nate
I had a Max IV unknown vintage that had a 484cc 2 stroke engine, it was fast and would handle top speed that you would care to run it at over any terrain, if I can find another one, I will use a 4 stroke Yamaha snowmobile engine, 120 hp and just use common sense on the throttle for the conditions.
