I have a 16 hp in my max 2, it had been running great, yesterday I backed it up on a steep bank and and back down. After that it wouldn't start unless the choke was on. And would only run with the choke on. If I turned the choke off and gave it gas it would die. Do you think one of the floats could have stuck. It runs today with out the choke but rough. Thoughts ?

Hi ss, You might have dislodged some crap in the float bowl. You can try revving it with your hand covering the carb and then take your hand off. Do it a couple of times. If that doesn't work you'll probably have to take the top off the carb and spray cleaner into it. Good Luck -
snake, my max 2 has the same motor and i have the same trouble from time to time. i have had great results adding seafoam to the gas. usually after 20 to 30 minutes running it clears out. may want to try it. good luck. johnboy va.Comment

+1 Seafoam. Great stuff. Cleans well. Cleaned out our Avenger carb last year. Ran fine afterwards.Stand for the Flag. Kneel for the Cross.Comment
