    Well I have got the carb all set right but it still idles too high for the belt to stop turning. How do you adjust the belt tension on an argo bigfoot??? Seth

    You add or remove shims from the rear clucth, but no one ever needs to do that unless it's been apart and changed... The belt will still turn because it's laying on the shaft. If the engine clutch is open a 1/4" or so wider than the belt, and you can flop the belt around, I'd lower the idle, use some belt dressing or powdered graphite, and shift to reverse, then forward, from nuetral. Of course I can't see your machine from here, but those are some ideas.

      thanks roger. I didn't know you could use graphite on the belt. I figured that would make it slip. I figured out the shifting trick not long after I got it. I wasn't sure if that was gonna hurt the tranny or not. Well good, i guess I'm on the right track then.

        The graphite powder will let the belt come to a stop, but it doen't last long. That's more of a side benefit, I use it mainly to lube the bushings and shafts in the clutches.

        Another thing I never got around to was making a plunger of some sort, mounting it through the firewall so a guy could push it against the belt and stop it. Or maybe an idle solonoid with a rubber bumper on the plunger mounted somewhere, with a pushbutton by your thumb.

        Another thing I have done is turn the key off till the engine has almost died, then shift.
