  • jlo 295

Hi I am very new to the 6x6 world and just bought my first 6x6 it is what I believe to be a chaparral. It has a jlo 295 with a tillotson hr87a carb. My first question. Is this model of a 6x6 any good? Second question on the carb there is a 90 degree elbow on the side of the carb with a pinhole at the end, when running it squirting a stream of fuel out of the pinhole. Is this a fuel return back to the tank? Thank you.

That's a chaparral. They look sweet and have the all mighty t-20 transmision in them. I never ran anything with a 295, although I do have 2 parts engines laying around, so I cannot attest to how good they move them. The biggest issue is that the abs is thin and tends to crack easily. You may want to lay a coat of fiberglass cloth mixes soaked in abs glue on the floor inside to thicken it up. Then I would make a skid plate out of a sheet of hdpe. You can throw any horizontal shaft engine in it you choose. A small Briggs would work well or even a harbor freight 16 or dare I say it, 22hp job. You would just have to change your clutching up a bit.
l like to buy stuff and no I don't do payments!
