  • Tachometer for FD620D

    Hello,

I need to install a tachometer on my Kawasaki FD620D, and was just wondering if I need to set the ppr to 1 or 0.5. I know on some small 4 strokes the ppr can be 1 like on 2 strokes, but I'm not sure if the FD620D falls into the "some" category.

Also, which cylinder is the #1 cylinder?

    Thanks!

All the small engine 4 strokes (lawn mower type) spark on every revolution. The spark is triggered off the flywheel so every time the flywheel comes around it calls for the spark. The other type 4 stroke (large engine type) has a distributor that runs at a 1:2 ratio to the crank so it knows the difference between the compression and exhaust strokes. As for the #1 plug.....it wont matter. The tach will read the same when triggered off either plug wire.

Clarification: the crank tuns 2 revolutions for every 1 of a distributor.
