  • briggs v-twin chargeing or not

My max-ll 16hp v- twin is there a way to boost chargeing voltige regulato doesnt kick in till i'm below 9 volts !! If I turn on lights or use wench it drops faster witch is understandable but if nothing is on it still drops when its just running !! New batt and checks out good , good cold crank amps and holds charge if discanected, to the point after plowing for about 2 hours put in on charger while I warm up out side and have cold one inside.

With battery charged it should regulate at 14-14.3 volts across the battery at about 1/2 throttle. Plowing is tough as the lights and winch eat the battery charge. I run a trickle charger on plow vehicle when sitting so ready to plow when needed. The briggs has only a 15 amp charge coil so that's all it will put out. If not charging till getting down on voltage you may have a bad regulator or connection between battery and red lead at regulator. Older IIs with the inline fuse near the engine had a lot of problems with the fuse holder getting loose or corroded. I cut them out and install marine holder for blade fuses. Good luck with the snow.

Mower batteries suck. Hopefully you have the 365 amp battery and not the 150 amp.

My new beer holder spilled some on the trails - in it's hair and down it's throat.
      Joe Camel never does that.

Advice is free, it's the application that costs.

I have friends with max IVs that add a deep cycle on the floor for plowing. Just protect the battery cables from going to ground.

I have a 16hp Briggs and got tired of the small battery. I had a top of the line battery and it was still crap. Finally decided to go to a large marine deep cycle I never worry about juice anymore. Also if it's in an Argo moving the battery out of the engine compartment makes servicing chains and bearings way easier. Make sure the charging system is working and run a marine deep cycle you will be happy.

I recently put a max II back together, all working great but it’s not charging the inline fuse was blown to pieces does anyone know what size fuse it takes I’m having trouble finding info online. It’s a 14hp Briggs.

My 14 hp Briggs takes an14 amp inline fuse. It is just the regular size car fuse.
