replacing 16hp vanguard w/23 HP vanguard n a max 4

Just ordered the 23 HP Briggs,brand new,wanted to find out if I can use the old 16 HP muffler.also is there some spring on the govner that needs to be replaced to make it run right for the way we run um .and if all that's not enough ? Can I use the same cluch from the old 16, thanks in advance 4 any advice u can give.

You can use the same governor spring that's on the 16HP Vanguard and also the same drive clutch as long as the 23HP Vanguard has a 1" shaft. The muffler is not interchangeable, but you can purchase one for the 21-23HP Vanguard engines at Home - Small Engine Warehouse Hope this helps! You'll be VERY impressed with that 23HP in there.....it's a GREAT engine!

New motors n ,runs great, awesome power, cluch works fine,changed both springs on govenor ,not sure what that does.the s e warehouse muffler bolted on,after a little tweaking,but had to cut new hole in engine cover.happy, happy, happy, thanks all 4ur help. Bill
